Mr. J. Hofman - Co-Head of School
Mr. J. Hofman : Co-Head of School

Since my retirement from full-time leadership in Christian Schools, I have served schools in Wisconsin, Michigan, California and Colorado as an Interim Head or as a Co-Interim Head of School. I look forward to serving with Don Woo this year at Crown Point Christian School.

My wife Mary and I just celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary. We have five children and seven grandchildren. Our children are scattered across the globe with some living in Michigan, one family in Georgia and one family on the island of Guam. My wife and I enjoy scuba diving together and traveling when time permits.

I am a devoted follower of Jesus and a member of Ada Bible Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My life verse is 3 John 1:4 - "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."

Mr. D. Woo - Co-Head of School
Mr. D. Woo : Co-Head of School

In addition to joining CPCS as Interim Co-Head of School,  I am currently serving as an Accreditation Regional Coordinator for Christian Schools International in the Midwest. Before joining CSI, I spent 11 years at Trinity Christian College, serving in various teaching and administrative roles. I continue to serve at Trinity by conducting new adjunct faculty interviews. Before joining Trinity’s faculty, I spent 33 years in PK-8 Christian education at Calvin Christian School, serving first as a middle grades teacher and later as a principal.

Currently, my professional interests include 21st-century Christ-centered educational practices and supporting excellent Christian education through mission-focused accreditation and professional development for boards and staff.

My wife Kay and I live in Saint John, Indiana. We have been married for 49 years, and are blessed to have two married sons and four grandchildren (two of whom attend CPCS).  I have served as an elder, mentor, small group leader, Point Person Coordinator, and facilitator for new member classes at Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana.

My favorite Bible passage is Romans 8:38-39: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Mr. M. Wiersma : Principal of Elementary School

Greetings CPCS families! My family and I are grateful for all that God has done, and is doing in our lives, to allow us the opportunity to be a part of the family at Crown Point Christian School. A glimpse into my educational background reveals I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Calvin College in the spring of 1998. In 2006, I completed my master’s degree in educational technology from California Polytechnic University - Pomona and served various technology needs while teaching in the school computer lab. In December of 2010, I completed a master’s degree in faith-based leadership from California Baptist University.

My wife Jamie and I were married in 2000 and have been blessed with three young boys, who attend Crown Point Christian School. I was born and raised in Michigan and was blessed to receive a Christian education my entire life. My free time is spent with family, often involved in the variety of activities young boys enjoy, personal interests include: running, swimming, and reading.

Christian education is unique in that it brings together knowledge and truth, thereby meeting the needs of each student. Christian education is also unique because it stands in the middle of two things that God loves deeply: kids and truth. Bible passages like Mark 9:37 and Mark 10:14 demonstrate the value Jesus places on children.  Mark 9:37 reads, "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” Mark 10:14 also says, "When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

We are reminded that in God are found all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge when we read Colossians 2:3. What a great honor we have to tie these two beloved things together by creating intersections of faith and learning for our students.

Ms. J. Kuiken - Assistant Lead Middle School Teacher
Ms. J. Kuiken : Assistant Lead Middle School Teacher

Hello!  My name is Jenny Kuiken.  I am so excited to be teaching sixth grade at Crown Point Christian School.  Christian education has always had a special place in my heart as I've attended Lansing Christian School, Illiana Christian High School and graduated from Trinity Christian College with a degree in Elementary Education.

I am so blessed with my three wonderful children. Rylee attends Purdue Northwest seeking a degree in Business, Luke attends Hanover High School, and David is in seventh grade at Crown Point Christian School.  We are a sports-oriented family, playing soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball in our spare time.  Following my passion for sports, I have also served as a coach for track, soccer, junior varsity and town softball, and basketball.  Go Crusaders!  We are members of Faith-Cedar Lake and serve in the Faith Kid's program.

One of my favorite Bible passages is Deuteronomy 31:8, "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."  How awesome is that?  God is always with us!  We have seen that in the growth of our school, outstanding and devoted staff, and loving caring parents.  I consider it an honor and privilege to serve on staff and continue to discern God's leading for our children at CPCS.

Mr. Z. Hoskins : Director of Information Technology

Hello, my name is Zach Hoskins, and I am so grateful to be here at Crown Point Christian School as the Director of Information Technology. I am originally from Hebron, Indiana, but have lived in Phoenix, Arizona for the past 5 years. While living in Phoenix, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and my Master’s Degree in IT Management, both from Grand Canyon University. After completing college, my wife Sammy and I felt led to move back to Indiana, and we now live in Highland. We currently do not have any children, but have two “fur babies” (a dog and a cat named Buddy and Minnie Meowse).

Prior to working at Crown Point Christian School, I worked in the IT Department at Grand Canyon University, and held many different IT jobs there. When I’m not working on computers, I love enjoying God’s beautiful creation, whether that be going on bike rides, playing golf, or just going on a walk with my wife. I also really enjoy music, and play a couple instruments. One Bible verse that really speaks to me is Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

My favorite verses are Romans 8:38 & 39:  "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angel, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Mr. J. Pressner : Part-Time Desktop Support Technician (T/W/TH)

Hi, my name is Jerry Pressner. Prior to joining the staff at CPCS, I worked for more than 45 years in the computer industry as a software developer that designed and programmed systems for businesses in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.  My previous positions required me to provide technical support for computers, printers, networks, and software, so my new role at CPCS is a perfect fit.  My goal is to use my experience to quickly solve computer problems for teachers, staff, and students ... and do it with a smile!

I am a member at Suncrest Christian Church and I serve as a keyboard player on their Worship Team.  Our church's motto is "Used by God to Change Lives", and I try to serve and make a difference. Whenever possible, I travel with others to Indianapolis to help the Tear Down the Walls organization feed the homeless in the city, and provide them with the everyday items we all take for granted.  We provide meals, blankets, clothing, shoes, batteries, personal hygiene items, water and more to those in need.  Tear Down the Walls also provides resources that will allow the homeless to obtain permanent, affordable housing.

My leisure activities include reading, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, being a fan at my grandson's baseball games, playing with my dog Marley, learning new skills, and watching documentaries about history, science, nature, or anything else that seems interesting.

One of my favorite verses is Matthew 12:21 - "In his name the nations will put their hope."

Rachel (1998 CPCS graduate) is married to Nathan Carlberg, and they reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Rachel and Nathan blessed us with our first two grandchildren. Our little Judah (3) and Deacon (9 months) are simply the best grandsons ever! We also love to grandparent their sweet little foster child (2). Rachel is a speech/language pathologist, and Nathan is an elementary school principal at an urban, Christian charter school in Milwaukee. Some of my favorite things to do are spending time with family, reading, and traveling. A couple of my favorite Bible verses are "Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." (Isaiah 12:2) and "Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10a).

Lisa has a degree in Elementary and Computer Education from Purdue University in West Lafayette. She finds it a privilege to work in a Christ-centered environment where each and every staff member has the same goal in mind; to bring praise to the Lord in all that we do.  Lisa and her family have a verse that they look to daily: Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." This verse reminds them that the plans he has for us are so much larger than what we have planned for ourselves.
