Elementary Special Education Teacher

Now accepting applications for a full-time Elementary Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The Elementary Special Education Teacher is responsible for the support of elementary students with identified disabilities and works collaboratively with their teachers. The Elementary Special Education Teacher serves as a member of the Student Services team and is responsible for actively supporting the mission, vision, and promotion of Crown Point Christian School.

Qualifications

  • Experience, Training, and Licensure

    • Bachelor Degree or higher Special Education from an accredited college or university

    • Indiana teaching license for the grade level taught

    • Must demonstrate personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior

    • Active member/regular attendee of a Bible-believing church

Responsibilities

  • Planning and Instruction

  1. Provide special education services to students with disabilities in elementary.

  2. Develop lessons and provide instruction using research based interventions that are suitable to meet the individual’s desired outcomes.

  3. Incorporate various teaching strategies to include different learning styles.

  4. Attend team data meetings.

  5. Organize intervention times well with lessons that have a clear purpose and engage students' attention.

  6. Support general education teachers with additional needed materials/strategies to use in the classroom for students with identified needs.

  7. Organize time, space, procedures and materials for effective, efficient learning.

  • Communication

  1. Facilitate communication with parents and classroom teachers to set and monitor student goals.

  2. Communicate with and support general education teachers regarding academic strategies for students with disabilities.

  3. Communicate with and support paraprofessionals who are implementing student plans.

  4. Fulfill responsibilities of progress monitoring for assigned students. Regularly report progress to parents and teachers through quarterly progress reports.

  4. Articulate and integrate Christian faith into teaching and relationship with others.

  • Other Duties

  1. Collaborate with students, parents and other members of staff to update and develop annual Choice Special Education Plans.

  2. Attend and participate in Individual Education Plan and Choice Special Educational Plan meetings as needed.

  3. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.

Position Details

  • Salaried, 190-day contracted employee paid in equal installments over twelve months beginning in August.

  • Reports to the Director of Student Services.
