My name is Kate Adams and I am a Middle School teacher with 10+ years of experience teaching science, PE, and social studies. I grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and attended Sheboygan County Christian School. I graduated from Calvin College in 2009 with a degree in biology and secondary education and then worked at Timothy Christian (Elmhurst, IL) for 7 years before coming to CPCS.
I love to be active and outdoors, and enjoy things like running, camping, biking, and going to the beach. I also love to simply hang out with my family and play games. I am an avid sports fan, and especially love the Olympics, World Cup, March Madness, and NFL football (Go Packers!). My favorite verse is Titus 3:5. My husband, Vinnie, and I live in Crown Point, Indiana. He leads the Reflectors Ministry at Faith Church (Dyer, IN). We have two boys - Jakob and Josiah.
In my classroom I try to use student-driven questions and inquiry-based activities to address students' misconceptions and present science concepts as models, which is more reflective of the true nature of science. Teaching in this way encourages students to be engaged, peaking their interest and developing a deeper understanding of the content.
Most importantly, I strive to use the science classroom as a place to discuss the relationship between science and faith. I love finding out about God while exploring His creation; and I am passionate about trying to understand what it means to live as a responsible Christian in God's world. I hope to pass this love on to my students as well. General revelation is all around; and all we have to do is take a closer look to have a glimpse into the awesomeness of our Creator!
