Effective 1/14/2021, any newly quarantined students will follow the guidelines below:
If a student tests POSITIVE for Covid-19 they must follow the standard guidelines and remain quarantined until the following criteria are met:
If a student is identified as a CLOSE CONTACT to someone that tests positive for Covid-19 they will not be allowed to attend school until the following criteria are met:
*Having the close contact student tested with a negative test result, will not change the quarantine period or allow the student to return to school sooner.
*If the student develops symptoms during the quarantine period and/or tests positive, please notify the School Nurse for further guidance.
Please note that the CDC still ultimately recommends a full 14 day quarantine for close contacts of Covid-19 positive persons and if a family chooses, we will allow for the full 14 day quarantine period. That decision will need to be communicated as soon as the student is quarantined and will not be allowed to change so that we avoid unnecessary confusion regarding dates when students may return to school.
One additional note regarding the calculation of the 10 day close contact quarantine, Day 1 would be the first full day without additional exposure to Covid-19. This can make a difference when the Covid+ person is a family member within the same household as the student. If the Covid+ family member cannot remain mostly isolated from the student in the home, the student’s day 1 becomes the first day after the Covid+ person completes their 10 day quarantine and is no longer contagious. This scenario ends up with the close contact student having a total of a 20 day quarantine.
