2019-2020 School Year Is On The Horizon

It’s hard to believe that we are already a little over one month into summer, and while many of you have already traveled, relaxed and enjoyed your friends and family, others of you still look forward to those times in the next month. The Wiersma family recently returned from Colorado where we enjoyed time with extended family but also enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation. Once we see the word August at the top of the calendar we will be on the brink of beginning the 2019 – 2020 school year, one that promises exciting growth and learning opportunities for all of our students. The CPCS campus is busy getting ready to welcome you back soon.

It has been a busy summer on campus, and you will likely notice some improvements that have been made. A big thank you to our Building & Grounds for ensuring some new surfaces to our blacktop. In addition, thank you to Mr. Fischer and his crew for the great work being done to clean carpets, clean rooms, paint walls, mow the lawn and get our campus looking beautiful for another school year. Thanks to your generosity at our auction we purchased a generator that is installed and ready for action when school begins. God is good!

We serve a faithful God and I am excited to launch into the 35th year of CPCS partnering with Christian families to create those important intersections of faith and learning for our students. Thank you for entrusting your children to our school.  Our teachers recognize your sacrifice and cherish the opportunities to help students discover God’s plan for their lives, to see the awe of who God is through each subject, and to pray the Holy Spirit into their hearts. Our theme for the 2019-2020 school year, Be the Example”, comes from 1 Timothy 4:12 that says: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” I look forward to seeing how teachers, parents, and staff speak this truth into the lives of our students this year. Can you think of examples when kids have provided the perfect statement at the just the right time in your life to remind you of God’s truth? Kids are some of the best examples of God’s truth!

Here are some key dates to circle on your calendar as you prepare for the coming school year!

  1. PreK – Kindergarten Families: Tuesday, August 13 for your Meet & Greet
  2. 1st – 5th Grade Families: Thursday, August 15 for your Open House
  3. 6th – 8th Grade Families: Monday, August 19 for your Open House

The teachers, staff and I look forward to what God has planned this school year! Please begin praying now for a year a growth and Christ-centered community at Crown Point Christian. May God be made famous as we work together to train up children to love God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind, and to love their neighbors as themselves.
