My name is Kristin DeVries and I am excited to be a working at Crown Point Christian School as a 3 day Pre-Kindergarten teacher this year. I love this age for the honesty, excitement, and wonder they bring to each day.  I look forward to getting to know these little ones and how God has created them each so special.  This is my fourth year of teaching in Early Childhood and I have also taught at Crown Point Christian School in a maternity leave position and as a classroom aide.
I graduated from North Park University with degrees in Early Childhood and English.  My husband, Jason, and I have three children.  Our oldest children, Anneke and Justin, attend Illiana Christian High School.  Our younger daughter, Kate, attends sixth grade at Crown Point Christian School.  We have been so blessed over the years by Crown Point Christian School.  We appreciate the way the teachers have poured into our kids and it's exciting to see the countless ways Christ is at work.
Two of my favorite verses are, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer" (Romans 12:12) and "Throw yourself into the work of the Lord, confident that nothing you do for Him is a waste of time" (I Corinthians 15:58).  Both verses have been encouragement and a challenge to me in the recent years during different circumstances and seasons of life.

My name is Heather Foust and I am an aide for the pre-kindergarten classes this year. This is my seventh year at Crown Point Christian and I am very excited to be here. I grew up in Lansing, Illinois and worked downtown Chicago as a secretary for 12 years. My family and I live in Cedar Lake, Indiana. My husband, Erik, and I have two children.  Justin is a freshman at Illiana Christian High School and Becca is in sixth grade here at Crown Point Christian School.

I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, working in my yard and camping with my family. My favorite bible verse is Matthew 6:34. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

I have been teaching at Crown Point Christian School for seventeen years, but I have taught at other schools such as Fort Wayne Public Schools, Living Stones Christian School (both of which are in Fort Wayne, Indiana) and Oral Roberts University Early Learning Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I attended Wauseon High School, Wauseon, Ohio. I went on to Fort Wayne Bible College, now known as Taylor University in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

I truly enjoy teaching the little children. It's an honor and a joy to invest into the lives of each and every child. Most of you know that I call my students "friends" and am known for the saying that I regularly reiterate to my "friends", which is that we are "always learning". How true that saying is for our entire lives!

My hobbies are my family and spending time with them. I am widowed and have three young adult children that live in the area. I am a proud "Nana" to my grandchildren! I also enjoy my church, going for walks, reading books and stopping at garage sales. I must say that you never know what treasures you might find!!

My favorite Bible scriptures are Psalm 1 and I Corinthians 16:13, "Be watchful, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong."

Kindergarten

I grew up in Jenison, Michigan. I went to Jenison Christian, Unity Christian and Calvin College. I was hired at DeMotte Christian. I earned my Masters from Valparaiso University. I have a great husband, four (mostly) wonderful kids, and one amazing daughter-in-law. I taught at DeMotte Christian for 20+ years, most of that time I was teaching Kindergarten. I have also spent some time teaching Preschool, Library skills to K-8 and subbing. I am blessed to be working with a great team of Kindergarten professionals here at Crown Point Christian School.

I am one of the most blessed teachers because Kindergarten is the best grade to teach! Some of my favorite verses are from Psalm 100-a perfect Kindergarten Chapter because you get to "Shout for joy to the Lord, and worship with gladness, and come with joyful songs" All of these are kindergarten things to do! I am also able to see a small part of "God's faithfulness to all generations" as former students now bring their little ones to learn more about God at a Christian School.

My name is Lori Eenigenburg. I have been a teacher's aide at Crown Point Christian School for sixteen years. I am overwhelmed with joy when I walk into the school every day and thank God for blessing our school.

I married my wonderful husband, Tim, in 1985 and we have enjoyed volunteering our time to CPCS and watching it blossom.  We have three grown children, all of whom graduated from CPCS.  My daughters, Krystle and Kellsey, are 28 and 23, respectively.  My son, Josh, is 26 and married to my beautiful daughter-in-law, Christie.  They have a daughter, Aleigha, who is my first grandchild.  My family and I live in Cedar Lake, Indiana where we have fun playing with our two horses and gardening.  I also enjoy canning, cooking and roller coasters!  I am very involved in my church and plan and host fellowship activities and dinners.  My favorite sports team is the Chicago Blackhawks. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 89:1, "I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever.  With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations."

Hola Amigos!

I was born and raised in Mexico City.  That is where I met my husband.  He was traveling on business trip.  After dating for over a year, I moved to Northwest Indiana.  That was six years ago.  I'm still trying to get used to the winters here, but I love everything else.

We have two boys.  Gabe is fourteen years old and has been attending Crown Point Christian School since second grade.  Ben is five years old and is in Kindergarten.

My husband and I think the most important things we could give and teach our kids are the love and respect to God, and a good education.  We feel very fortunate to be part of Crown Point Christian School.  I'm so blessed to be part of the staff!  I continually ask God to guide me and show me all of my hidden talents on this new adventure.  I pray I will be an excellent support for our young students.

We have two dogs and a fish.  We enjoy hockey, football, bicycle rides, ice cream, pizza and tacos.

My name is Beatriz Iglesias Silva and I was born and raised in Caceres, Spain. I am excited to be working in the Spanish Immersion program at Crown Point Christian School. I am a passionately curious person. Learning is one of my biggest pleasures and I have always been amazed by different cultures and languages. Spanish is my mother tongue but I speak fluent English, Italian, Portuguese and also know some French and German.

I went to college to study English (Language, Literature and Culture) and spent my junior and senior years abroad in Germany and the Canary Islands. It was here I had my first experience working with a classroom of students to whom Spanish was a foreign language. It was a very inspiring opportunity where I was able to work with professors, students, and staff from universities all over the world. Therefore, I decided to commit myself to the educational field. After graduating from college, I received a MA in Education and a MA in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

The Lord has provided a lot of wonderful opportunities in my life.  In 2014, I was offered an academic scholarship and a position as a Spanish teacher at Purdue University. I moved to Indiana in December of that year to work and study for my Graduate degree in Communications.

I heard about the Spanish Immersion program shortly after I graduated from Purdue and I feel so blessed to be part of it at Crown Point Christian School. Working with the kids here has been a blessing since the first moment I came into my classroom. There is not a day where I do not learn something from my kids. Seeing them learn to speak a whole new language and experiencing how much they enjoy doing it is a thrill. They are always surprising me with their improvements and their new skills. It is amazing how pleasing it is to help them grow in their knowledge.

I thank the Lord every day of my life for the opportunities he has given me.  One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalm 107:1, "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever."

My name is Myrna Jorna and I am so thrilled to be a part of a Christian school community. Growing up as an only child of a widowed mother, we could never afford Christian School tuition. I received my Bachelor of Education degree from Northern Illinois University. I taught fourth grade for several years in District 150 in South Holland, Illinois. As my three daughters were born, I became a stay-at-home mom, but eventually began subbing in area schools. I subbed for over ten years, and when my youngest daughter left for college, I began teaching full-time in Sauk Village, Illinois, Dist.168, teaching both first and second grade throughout the years. Christian teachers are desperately needed in the public school, and it has been my privilege to try to be a light in the darkness that surrounds many of these precious children. In June of 2012, I retired from full-time teaching with 28 years of service credited. I still wanted to be actively involved with teaching, and was thrilled to be considered for the position of Kindergarten Assistant.

After being married just short of 40 years, Kent, my husband, went home to be with the Lord. I am the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, two of whom attend Crown Point Christian School, Billy and Mikayla Haak. In my spare time I enjoy reading and dabbling in oil painting.

I have learned to rely heavily on the verses from Philippians 4:6 & 7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

My name is Betsy Zimmer.  I have taught kindergarten at Crown Point Christian School since the fall of 1999. I am married to an amazing Christian man named Michael.  We have two daughters.  Maggie is married (to my son-in-law, Will) and they reside in Seattle, Washington.  We don't see them often due to their location, but we talk on the phone  each week for hours!    My younger daughter is Morgen, who graduated from CPCS, was in my first kindergarten class here at CPCS.  She is currently in the honors program at Ball State University, my alma mater, studying to be a teacher.

I love making the Bible and other books we read in class come alive for my students.  I use music (including playing my mandolin), theater, crafts and games to enhance the learning process.  I was honored in 2005 as the Walmart/Sam's Club teacher of the year in Northwest Indiana.  However, my true reward is seeing children get curious and excited about learning.

My favorite Bible verse changes almost from day to day.  I am always amazed at how God can reach my spirit with a verse that I have come across a thousand times in a fresh or personal way.  My favorite hymn is "Be Thou My Vision" and one of my favorite praise songs is "In Christ Alone".

First Grade

I am beside myself with excitement to start this new adventure as the first grade Spanish Immersion Teacher at Crown Point Christian School.  I have a profound love of teaching kids and of languages, and the opportunity to combine the two in my own classroom in an environment as rich as Crown Point Christian School, frankly, has me in shock at God's goodness.  Not only that, but He's opened a place here from my husband as well, so we get to do this together!

I'm an eclectic soul, with a passion for linguistics, banjo, and textiles.  I also love clay and gardening and fiddling and painting interesting things on my walls and ceiling.  I've traveled in a number of countries (picking up bits of language and delicious food, of course!) and have spent quite a bit of time in Spain.

I've taught for 14 years in a number of capacities, from eighth grade Industrial Arts to Preschool ESL classes, and a lot of things in between.  I hold endorsements in a number of areas and went to Millikin, St. Xavier, St. Francis, and a few other places, but most of all I've learned to be a teacher from being around great teachers, and constantly seeking new ways to reach my students.

With the beginning of this new adventure, I'm praying for wisdom and creativity to flow through each day of class, for patience, peace and understanding for parents who are jumping into something so new and exciting, and for curiosity and good hearts to drive the kids who are about to immerse themselves in my classroom.

I have no idea how I would pick a favorite Bible verse, but here's one that has struck with me for a very long time, and serves me well:  "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."  Philippians 4:8

Hello! I am Mrs. Stefanie Berdine and this is my sixth year teaching first grade at Crown Point Christian School. I am so blessed to be at this school and love teaching first grade. It is my passion to teach children about the Lord and his love for us.  Previously, I taught seven years in the public schools teaching second and fifth grades. Also, I was a school counselor at Kankakee Valley Intermediate School in Wheatfield. I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education at Ball State University and a Master's Degree in School Counseling at Purdue University.

My husband Jeff and I live in Cedar Lake.  He plays for the worship team at our church and I serve in the children's nursery.   My hobbies are cooking, reading, traveling, knitting, vegetable gardening, bike riding, and running.

My favorite bible verses are Psalm 19:14," May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer," and 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline."

My name is Brittany Eenigenburg and I am the first grade aide to Mrs. Berdine and the CAMP director at Crown Point Christian School.  I am blessed to have this opportunity and excited to see what God has in store for me this school year.

I married my amazing husband, Seth, in November of 2013.  We enjoy volunteering our time within the community and at church.  We also love to spend time with friends and family, going boating and camping.  Seth and I live in Crown Point, Indiana and spend a lot of our time at home doing projects and landscaping.  I enjoy baking, sewing, and trying out new recipes.  My favorite sports team is the Chicago Blackhawks.  One of my favorite Bible verses comes from II Timothy 3: 16-17, which tells us, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

My name is Miguel Gonzalez. I was born in Madrid, Spain. I have been involved in a variety of sports since I was a small child. When I had to choose what to study in college, I applied to be a Physical Education teacher. While I was studying, I started to train some athletes for track and field events. It was during that time that I realized the importance of being a good example while teaching.  After I graduated college I continued studying to earn Master degrees in teaching and high sport performance.

In 2012, I married my wife, Teresa Alonso, who is the second grade Spanish immersion teacher at Crown Point Christian School.  We have known each other since we were seventeen years old and are partners in our United States adventures, hobbies, sports, travel and working.

One of my favorite verses of the Bible is Joshua 1:9:  "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

My name is Melissa Porter.  This will be my second year as a part of the Crown Point Christian School staff.

Christian education built such a foundation in my heart for the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.  My husband, Rick, and I have two children.  Hazel is in second grade and Maverick is in kindergarten.  The past three years I have loved being part of the Crown Point Christian School family.  I have served on the Fine Arts Committee, as a room mom, and have spent time in the classroom.  My life has been impacted by many faithful teachers, coaches and volunteers who gave of their gifts and time to show me the love of our Lord.  I pray the Lord will use me in His classroom and may all the glory be to Him for the amazing things He is doing at Crown Point Christian School.

My favorite Bible verse is:  "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Hold Spirit."  Romans 15:13

My name is Vicky Reece and I am so blessed to be part of the gifted and loving staff at Crown Point Christian School.  I have always loved teaching.  As a child, I played school in my basement and set up a classroom, made homemade worksheets and welcomed any and all neighborhood friends to join in the fun!

The choice to major in early childhood education came with ease.  I attended Eastern Illinois University and have taught both preschool and Kindergarten.

I was a stay-at-home mom for almost ten years and had much excitement about stepping back into the classroom as a substitute teacher last fall.  I look forward to being a teacher's aide and spending my time and energy serving God's children as well as my family at home.

God has blessed me with a husband and four beautiful children who love the Lord with all their heart.  As a family, we are happiest when serving along side each other, caring for others.  We have been privileged to be a "safe family" through Bethany Christian Services for over five years.  Many displaced children have come in and out of our home after needing a refuge in crisis situations; learning often that children truly belong to the Creator!

My passions apart from teaching are reading, studying the Bible, and watching Jeopardy after school.  I am always impressed when my children get more answers correct that I do.

Once again, I look forward to the privilege of working with the kingdom-minded educators at Crown Point Christian School and the little children who belong to the One True King.

My name is Jill Rich, and I teach First Grade at Crown Point Christian School. This is my seventh year of teaching at CPCS; however, the classroom is not a new environment to me. My teaching career spans a total of twenty-one years now, and my experiences include both public and private schools. My calling has always been to be a teacher. There is nothing better than watching/helping children reach their full God-given potential. I earned my Bachelor's degree in 1995 from Illinois State University.

My family and I currently reside in Cedar Lake, Indiana. My family includes my husband, Justin, and our two children. My daughter, Julie, is a graduate of CPCS and is a sophmore at Hanover Central High School.  My son, John, is in fifth grade at CPCS. We also have some "furry" members of our family. We have two dogs:  Jasper and Rosco.  We have also rescued three cats:  Bootsie, Kramer, and Coal.

In my spare time, I enjoy singing in community choirs like the Illiana Oratorio Society. In addition to singing, I enjoy playing the piano for my own personal enjoyment and for our monthly CPCS "Wing Sings". My family and I also enjoy camping. We have camped several places, including Yellowstone National Park, the beaches of Fort Meyers, and Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground.

My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:4-7, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Hi! My name is Denise Van Drunen. It is such a blessing to teach first grade at Crown Point Christian School. Teaching has been my passion for as long as I can remember and being able to incorporate Christ into my classroom is such a joy.

I graduated from Trinity Christian College with a BA degree in elementary education. This will be my ninth year of teaching, my fifth at CPCS. I have been blessed to work at a variety of Christian schools in various parts of the country.

My husband's name is Ron. He is a plumber by trade. We have been blessed with five wonderful children: Dylan, Travis, Haley, Ty, and last, but not least, Collin.  Dylan and Travis attend Illiana Christian High School.  Haley, Ty, and Collin attend Crown Point Christian School.  We enjoy outside activities (that burn off a lot of energy) as a family. When time allows, I enjoy running, reading, trying new recipes, and spending time with family and friends.

Our favorite family verse is Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Second Grade

My name is Teresa Alonso.  I was born and raised in Madrid, the capital of Spain.  When I was a little girl I wanted to become a teacher.  I studied education in college to achieve my dream.  My dream continues to evolve and my teaching skills continue to sharpen while working with students of various age ranges and educational levels.  I strongly believe that teaching is one of the ways that God gives us a chance to share His love with others and I make this known in my classroom.

In 2012 I married Miguel Gonzalez.  We are ready to start our "Indiana adventure" at Crown Point Christian School.  I have three wonderful sisters who are teachers in Spain.  I love to spend time with family in any location.  My hobbies are traveling, sports and movies.

One of my favorite verses of the Bible is Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

I look forward to using this time in the United States to share our culture and language with my students.  I also look forward to learning more about America.

Hi!  I'm Joyce Koster.  I have been a teacher both full and part-time for over 18 years.  I started my career in public education and am so blessed to be a part of Christian education now for 14 years.  I simply love teaching second grade.  It is my joy to discover the wonder of the amazing world God has created with these precious little ones.  They see the delight of the world in a way that inspires me.

My wonderful husband, Kurt, and I live in Crown Point.  When we are not working on home projects we enjoy camping, kayaking, and hockey games.  Our favorite past time is spending time with our adult children.  Our son, Nicholas, and his wife, Sarah, live in South Holland.  Our daughter, Katie, and her husband, Brian, live in Plainfield with our darling grandson, Will.  Our youngest, Bradley, is a newlywed to his bride, Sammi.  They live in Merrillville.

God's Word has been a light unto my feet and a light unto my path.  I have so many stories of His faithfulness in my walk with Him.  I would have to say the verse that continues to be my comfort, my rock in tricky times, and my joy in all circumstances is:  Ephesians 3:20-21, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we all ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen."  This verse has guided my teaching, for I have seen time and again our God do immeasurably more than I could ever ask or imagine with the amazing children He brings into my classroom.

My name is Elaine Nosich. This is my seventh year teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I am thrilled to be a part of the family here! I taught at Roseland Christian School in Chicago for seven years prior to coming to Crown Point Christian School. I received my BA in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College and my MS in Reading and Literacy from Walden University.

I live in Munster with my husband, Jeff, and our two cats. I enjoy cooking, bike riding, and spending time downtown Chicago. I love teaching because every day is different and exciting.  It is so rewarding to watch the students blossom into readers and writers!

My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31 "Those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on winds like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."

My name is Lora Postma. After graduating from Trinity Christian College, I started teaching first grade at Lafayette Christian School in Lafayette, Indiana. It was in Lafayette where I met my wonderful husband, Jon. I also taught in North Carolina where I was privileged to teach fourth grade and third grade. God has blessed me through the time I have spent serving His children, and I am so excited to be at Crown Point Christian School where I can continue His work.

Christ has instilled a desire in me to serve Him globally. I have spent many months working in various countries throughout the world, serving in various capacities. My hope is that Christ will work in my students to soften their hearts for His Kingdom work. Besides travelling, I love learning new things, spending time with family and friends, playing with my son, and doing anything outdoors.

My favorite verse has often changed depending on what God has been teaching me. Lately I have clung to Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

God provided the blessing of encountering the second grade Spanish Immersion Teacher Assistant job at Crown Point Christian School at the most appropriate time.  For the past twenty five years, I lived in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. I returned to the northwest Indiana area in August 2015 to attend to my father during his battle with cancer. My father passed away in October, 2016 and shortly thereafter, the position became vacant.

I have four children, now young adults, who were all born in Mexico; however, graduated from high school in the United States by living with family during their high school years.  We have always shared both cultures.

Teaching has always been a natural talent for me.  My first experience was presented to me when we relocated to Leander, Texas when my children were in elementary school.  Initially, I volunteered to teach Spanish to two second grade classes.  Then I was hired as a Bilingual Instructional Assistant utilizing games, dynamics and alternative teaching methods to remedial 1st grade students, tutoring language arts and math in Spanish.

Returning to Guadalajara, I received a diploma from the University of Guadalajara as an English as a Second Language Teacher in 2005.  Then I began teaching English in Language Institutes, private elementary schools and public high schools.  I had the privilege to develop and pioneer the on-line curriculum and classes for English 1 for the State of Jalisco Virtual High School.

My spiritual journey leads me to rely on God’s guidance and protection daily.  I believe in Him for my salvation through the death and blood of his son, Jesus Christ.  My favorite bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."  I have been attending Suncrest Christian Church over the past ten years whenever I traveled back to northwest Indiana and now I am blessed to call Suncrest my church home.

I am very enthusiastic to work with the Spanish Immersion second graders at CPCS and have been impressed with the Add A Lingua Program and the level of language skills that the students have demonstrated.

I am Dawn Gibson, and it is such a privilege to teach third grade at Crown Point Christian School.

I graduated from Trinity Christian College in 1989, and I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with minors in History, Special Education, and Theology. I was a substitute teacher for a semester and then taught third grade at Highland Christian School before starting a family.

My family consists of my husband, our four children, and my niece. We have three dogs - Callie, Bailey, and Tootsie.  As a family we enjoy swimming, tubing, water skiing, sporting events and getting together with family and friends.

I graduated from Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois. I then attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1997. I taught second grade for five years in San Jose, California. I moved to Crown Point in 2002. It has been such a privilege to teach third grade here at Crown Point Christian.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Ambrose. I teach 4th grade at Crown Point Christian School. I attended Faith Christian High in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois.

I began my teaching career here at CPCS in 1989 with the school's first third grade class. The next year I continued with a combined third/fourth grade class. For the past several years I have taught fourth grade. I love the age of my students. Most of them are interested in school and still get excited about the things we are learning.

My favorite thing about Crown Point Christian School is that we are a nondenominational school. Students are from many different church backgrounds, yet we are all related in our love for the Lord.

My name is Joslyn Burnett, and I'm excited to be teaching fourth grade at Crown Point Christian School!  It's an honor and a privilege to be part of this school family and community.  I'm most looking forward to getting to know each of my students and encouraging them in their academic and spiritual growth.

I graduated from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  In 2003, after a mission trip to Botswana, Africa, I felt led to pursue a career in teaching.  I graduated from Calumet College of Saint Joseph with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  This will will be my twelfth year of teaching.  Last year was my first year of teaching at Crown Point Christian School.  It has been a wonderful blessing to be part of this school community.

I'm married to my best friend, Brent, and we have three wonderful children.  Kendra attends Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York.  Lilly is a senior and Skyler is a sophomore this year.  We reside in Hobart, Indiana.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing, running, hiking, and spending time with my family.  We attend Living Stones Church in Crown Point where I'm a small group leader and a mentor for newly married couples.

Many of my favorite verses have to do with endurance.  Hebrews 12:1-2 says, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.  And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.  For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."  I believe that as we run the race set before us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus, there is nothing we can't accomplish or overcome!

My name is Sue Hoeksema and I am a full-time aide at Crown Point Christian School. I am the fourth grade aide to Mrs. Burnett. I live in Cedar Lake with my husband, Steve, and my two children, Jason, a sophomore at Illiana Christian, and Jillian, a seventh grader here at CPCS. CPCS has been such a blessing to my family and I consider it a privilege to work here.

My name is Lisa Wilson and I teach fourth grade here at Crown Point Christian School. I was born in Lowell, Indiana and graduated from Lowell High School in 2000. After graduating high school I went on to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education as well as a minor in Computer Education. My husband Tim, sons Logan, Nathan and Camden, along with our Morkie, Lucy, reside in Lowell. In my spare time I enjoy reading, taking pictures, and watching my favorite sports teams with friends and family.

I find it a privilege to work in a school that provides a family Christian atmosphere. I have been blessed to be teaching at CPCS since January, 2007. I love to watch my students grow spiritually, emotionally, and academically throughout the school year.  My passion is for teaching kids in a Christian environment. To go to school and be involved in something you are passionate about is truly a gift from God. My life verse is also our family's verse. My name is Katie Dahm, and this will be my first year as a full-time teacher in fifth grade.  This will be my third year at Crown Point Christian School.  I have previously worked as an aide and have covered three maternity leaves; one in Kindergarten and two in fifth grade.  I love working at Crown Point Christian School because I am able to share my faith and grow in my relationship with our Lord alongside my students and coworkers.

I was raised in Hebron, Indiana where I attended Hebron High School.  I then received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Lincoln Christian University (LCU) in Lincoln, Illinois.  After completing my time at LCU, my husband Josh and I decided to move back to the area to be close to family.  We currently live in Lowell with our two crazy dogs and adorable son, Henry.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, crafting and hiking/biking.  I always have a difficult time choosing a favorite verse because I always feel like it changes with the season of Life.  Recently, I have found peace in Psalm 31:14-15, "But I trust in you, LORD; I say, "You are my God."

My name is Corinne Jansma, and this is my fourth year as a teacher at Crown Point Christian!  I grew up in Chesterton, Indiana, and the summer before I began high school, my family moved to DeMotte where I attended Covenant Christian High School.  Afterwards, I pursued my childhood dream of becoming a teacher at Trinity Christian College.  I felt God leading me to teach kids about academic subjects that I am passionate about and to share His love with them!  I graduated college the same summer I married my wonderful husband, Kyle.

Besides teaching and spending time with others, my hobbies include crafting, shopping, running, and cooking.  My husband and I enjoy biking, playing basketball, boating, and working on projects together.  My favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:23 which reminds me to work at everything with all my heart!  I strive to share with my students my desire to "work at everything with all your heart, as working for the Lord and not for other."  I hope they will live wholeheartedly for Jesus!

My name is Erin LaRue and I am so thankful to teach at Crown Point Christian School! I love teaching in a Christian school because it gives me the opportunity to share our amazing God with my students.

This is my fifth year at Crown Point Christian School, and my tenth year of teaching.  I have lived and taught in Alexandria, Virginia (3rd grade) and in Fremont, California (5th grade) prior to moving to Northwest Indiana.  I attended Worthington Christian High School in Worthington, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.  Having grown up in Christian schools, I understand firsthand the importance and significance that a Biblical education can have on a student's life.

My husband Brian and I attend Bethel Church in Crown Point, where I sing in the choir and lead a small group. We love to travel--anywhere and everywhere! Hello!  My name is Kate Adams and I am excited to join the Crown Point Christian School community this year as the sixth grade science teacher.  I grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and attended Sheboygan Christian Grade School and High School.  I love to be active and outdoors, and enjoy things like running, camping, biking, and going to the beach.  I also love to just hang out with my family and play games.  I am an avid sports fan and especially love the Olympics, March Madness, and NFL football. (Go Packers!)  My favorite verse is Titus 3:5.

My husband of seven years, Vinnie, and I just moved to Crown Point, Indiana.  He leads worship and the Reflectors Ministry at Faith Church.  We have two boys - Jakob (3.5 years) and Josiah (6 months).

I graduated from Calvin College in May of 2009 with a degree in biology and secondary education, and a minor in health education.  For the past seven years I have been teaching seventh grade science at Timothy Christian.  In my classroom I try to use inquiry based activities to address students' misconceptions and present science concepts as models, which is more reflective of the true nature of science.  Teaching in this way encourages students to be engaged, peaking their interest and developing a deep understanding of the content.

Most importantly, I strive to use the science classroom as a place to grow in faith and discuss the relationship between science and faith.  I love finding out about God while exploring His creation; and I am passionate about trying to understand what it means to live as a responsible Christian in God's world.  I hope to pass this love on to my students as well.  General revelation is all around; and all we have to do is take a closer look to have a glimpse into the awesomeness of our Creator!

I am very excited to be teaching at Crown Point Christian School this year!  I attended Cedarville University for my undergraduate degree in elementary education and Liberty University for my Masters degree in counseling.  I taught first grade in Harvey, Illinois until my first son was born.  Since that time, I have remained active working with children through various volunteer and church activities.  I most recently have been working with adolescents as a therapist at Chicago Christian Counseling Center.

I have been married for 19 years to my amazing husband, Chris.  We have a large family with seven children.  Our family attends Faith Church, where both my husband and I have served as middle school small group leaders.  We enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking or camping in the mountains.

A verse that my husband and I try to live by is Micah 6:8, "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"  We hope to walk closely with God and love those around us.

My name is Kait Chew, formerly Kait Botma.  I grew up in Lansing, Illinois, where I attended Lansing Christian School and Illiana Christian High School.  From there I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to attend Calvin College.  During my summers at Calvin, I had the opportunity to work at SpringHill Camp in Evart, Michigan.  That is where I met my husband, John Chew, in 2009.  We graduated and married in 2011.  Shortly after we were married, we moved to Missouri so John could start his career in the U.S. Army.  Our next stop was Fort Riley, Kansas, and we were stationed there for four years.  I began my teaching career at Fort Riley Middle School in 2012.  I taught sixth grade language arts for two years and then moved up to teach eighth grade language arts for two more years.  Although I never imagined myself as a middle school teacher, I've loved every second of teaching this age group.  Middle school students certainly keep me on my toes!

My family consists of my husband, John, our son, Atticus, and our two labradoodles, Othello and Clara.  We are so excited to be moving back to Indiana to start new jobs and be closer to family.  I honestly never thought I would end up back in Indiana.  However, God had different plans for our family.  Now that it's happening, I couldn't be more excited for this next chapter in life.  One of my favorite Bible verses is fitting when I think about my plans versus what God has planned for my family and me.  Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, 'Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."'  I look forward to seeing His plans as we begin this new stage of life.

I am Mrs. Corder and I have been teaching at Crown Point Christian School for 15 years. However, I have been teaching for 46 years. Some years were partial days and some substituting while my daughters were babies. I love to teach school and my favorite part is all things I learn from my students.

My husband, who is also a teacher, and I have lived in the same house for 34 years. We have three daughters, one lives in Phoenix, one lives in Chicago, and one lives in Grand Rapids. We are proud grandparents of six little ones who are learning about Jesus.

I attended Cedarville, College, Bryan College and Indiana University. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree. I still take classes every five years to renew my Indiana teaching license.

In the summer, I teach Bible School and tend to my special flower garden. I also love to read and travel. Two of my daughters live in California so we visit as often as we can. We also go to Michigan to visit our grandchildren.

My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 53:5. God has blessed me with a wonderful family, church, and school. I thank Him every day.

My name is Lisa Kampenga and I am overjoyed to be starting this journey of teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I grew up in Northwest Indiana and graduated from Lansing Christian School and Illiana Christian High School. Then, God led me on an adventure to pursue my degree in Special Education and Elementary Education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

Throughout my time in Arizona I was involved in multiple outreach opportunities serving those in the community and teaching them about God’s love. I spent much of my summers as a camp counselor with SpringHill Camps where I was able to share the Word of God with children across the Midwest. I am passionately involved in the special needs ministry at Faith Church, where I had the privilege of interning and am now continuing in the work of the Lord. In my free time I enjoy baking, reading, going to the beach, watching the Cubs and the Blackhawks as well as spending time with my family and friends.

This past spring I was blessed to have completed my student teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I am ecstatic to now be taking on the role of Middle School Student Services teacher as well as the sixth grade Language Arts teacher. I am thrilled to continue God’s work with the passion He has instilled in me to teach and proclaim His Word and the love of Jesus Christ to children and everyone God places in my path. Hello. My name is Larry Knootz. I was born in November of 1961. I went to Johnstown Christian High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and graduated in 1985 from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. I am closing in on 30 years of teaching, with the majority of those years being here at CPCS. Florida and Pennsylvania were the other states I taught. My family is made up of my wife, Jean, college students Emily and Cody, and high school junior Cassidy. We currently live in Merrillville, Indiana.

I am in charge of a 7th grade homeroom as well as teaching Bible and novel studies to 7th and 8th grades at Crown Point Christian School. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the light go on when a student who is having a hard time suddenly understands.

My outside interests and hobbies include collecting baseball cards and coaching basketball and soccer. My favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, "Therefore do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Hello!  My name is Jenny Kuiken.  I am so excited to be teaching sixth grade at Crown Point Christian School.  Christian education has always had a special place in my heart as I've attended Lansing Christian School, Illiana Christian High School and graduated from Trinity Christian College with a degree in Elementary Education.  I have been teaching for eight years, and this is my third year at Crown Point Christian School.

I am so blessed with my three wonderful children.  Rylee attends Hanover High School, Luke is in sixth grade, and David is in fourth grade at Crown Point Christian School.  We are a sports-oriented family, playing soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball in our spare time.  Following my passion for sports, I have also served as a coach for track, soccer, junior varsity and town softball, and basketball.  Go Crusaders!  We are members of Faith-Cedar Lake and serve in the Faith Kid's program.

One of my favorite Bible passages is Deuteronomy 31:8, "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."  How awesome is that?  God is always with us!  We have seen that in the growth of our school, outstanding and devoted staff, and loving caring parents.  I consider it an honor and privilege to serve on staff and continue to discern God's leading for our children at CPCS.

Hello, I am Emily O'Brien and I am so excited to be teaching 7th grade science at CPCS. I am a graduate of Purdue University Calumet were I played volleyball and earned my Bachelor of Science and a second Bachelor in Secondary Education. I have taught in public education for the past 11 years, starting in Hammond, moving to Griffith and finally spending this last year in Hobart.

I am married to the love of my life, Danny, who works for Union Pacific Railroad. We have 3 children. Kyle will be attending Ball State in the fall and Jenna and Maddux are both students at CPCS. We are a sports oriented family, playing soccer, volleyball and softball in our spare time. We also have a wonderful church family at First Highland Church of the Nazarene.

I really feel that my move to CPCS is God's will and I look forward to embracing my faith and love of teaching.

Hello, my name is Patty Sparks.  I have the pleasure of teaching middle school grammar and writing at Crown Point Christian School this year. I am excited to transition from high school sophomores to seventh and eighth graders!

During my ten year teaching career, I have taught grades 7-11, but it is the middle school age group that I have always enjoyed the most. I love teaching and I have always been passionate about getting to know my students and their learning styles. This year, I am excited to share my love for Jesus in a whole new way!

I live with my family in Crown Point, Indiana. My husband Scott and I have been married for 19 years and enjoy staying active and playing sports together.  I have a son, Gabe, who has graduated high school and lives on his own.  My daughter, Abbi, is a senior this year at Crown Point High School.

My favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- His good, pleasing and perfect will.” This reminds me that God is always at work in us; He molds us and changes us and He is always on our side!

Hello, my name is Jeff Stallinga and I grew up in South Holland, Illinois, and attended Calvin Christian School, Illiana Christian High School, and Trinity Christian College. My first teaching position was at Highland Christian School, where I taught fourth grade as well as a few years of junior high Bible. During my time at Highland, I also earned my Master's Degree in Education from Purdue University.

After 11 years at Highland, I took a break from teaching and spent two years doing full time youth ministry at a church in South Holland. But I soon felt the Lord was calling me back into the classroom, and I accepted a sixth grade position at Lansing Christian School, where I taught for another 11 years.

I then felt the Lord was calling me to teach at Crown Point Christian School, and now after I have completed my third year here at this wonderful school, I have no doubts that this is where I am supposed to be and where I can fulfill God's calling to the fullest. I truly believe that teaching is not just a job, but my ministry and God's calling on my life. I am grateful for how he has used me over the years to not only teach about God's world, but to lead children to a stronger relationship with their Lord and Savior.

When I'm not grading papers, I enjoy coaching basketball, watching sports - especially the Bears and Blackhawks, and I love to bike and grill out during the summer. My favorite verse is found in 1st Corinthians 10:31, "Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

My name is Tammy VanDeel, and I am teaching middle school Language Arts at Crown Point Christian School this year. I am excited about the move from 5th grade to middle school. I started my teaching career teaching middle school Language Arts. I have been teaching for a total of thirteen years, and this is my fifth year here at CPCS. As a little girl I dreamed of being a teacher, and I believe God has me right where he wants me. I have a passion for teaching and leading children in developing their talents and gifts that God has given them.

I live with my family in Saint John, Indiana. I have a daughter, Katie, who is a junior this year at Illiana Christian High School. My twin boys, Andrew and Tom, also attend Illiana as sophomores.

My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." As a little girl, my mom instilled this into me. She always told me that with the help of God, I could do anything. I am passing this tidbit down to my own children and the children that I teach.

I grew up in DeMotte, Indiana with my parents, and my two brothers.  After graduating from DeMotte Christian School in 2001 and Kankakee Valley High School in 2005, I attended Trinity Christian College where I double majored in elementary education and math education.  During my time at Trinity, I enjoyed being involved in a variety of activities from student government, to Trinity's math triathlon competitions, to playing on Trinity's women's volleyball team for four years.  In volleyball, I fulfilled the duties of captain for two years, and received the honor of being named an NCCAA Division One All-American Player my senior year.  After graduating from Trinity in 2009, God continued his faithfulness by leading me to Crown point Christian School where I am currently teaching middle school math.  In the summer of 2014, I changed my name from Miss Schurman to Mrs. Wigboldy when I married a wonderful Christian man named Jason Wigboldy.  It was obvious that God led us to one another and we now live happily in Oak Forest, Illinois.  My hobbies include reading, camping, staying active in sports, and spending time with family and friends.

I have a passion for mathematics and feel that the Lord is calling me to share this joy with others.  My goal is to create a classroom environment in which students feel safe to explore new concepts, be creative and find success and enjoyment in this subject.

I strive to continually trust in God's faithful guidance.  I am uplifted by Proverbs 19:21 which states, "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."

I have been a music teacher for 38 year.  I have taught in Minnesota, Illinois, Colorado, and Indiana.  I received my undergraduate degree at Bemidji State University in Minnesota, and did graduate work in String Development at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Although I have taught every facet of music education, my specialty has always been orchestra.  I play twelve different musical instruments, and enjoy classical, jazz, folk music from around the world, classic rock, and Irish fiddle music.  I have been involved in church music for nearly 40 years.

I am currently involved in teaching Bible to both children and adults.  I also enjoy teaching astronomy, and often host backyard get-togethers in my observatory.

I live in St. John with my wife, Linda, and daughter, Amelia, who attends Crown Point Christian School.

My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 55:9, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

My name is Vickie Craig. I am originally from Illinois, but have had the privilege of also living in Colorado, California and Ohio.

I graduated from Moody Bible Institute and Wheaton College. My career has mostly involved training children. I have had a daycare in my home, taught first and sixth grades, and most recently taught English as a second language to a special bunch of Ohio elementary students.

My family, husband Dan, daughters Erin and Leah, and son-in-law Philip, are an enormous source of joy to me. We also have a furry "child" named Teddy.

My favorite verse is Psalm 91:1, "He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the almighty."

I'm Angie Davids, and I am teaching music classes for pre-kindergarten and third through eighth grade classes.  I also instruct choir for fifth, sixth and seventh grade. I have been teaching private music lessons in clarinet, piano and voice for thirteen years in the area and at Revolution Music School in St. John. My main source for music has been through leading worship in some way for the past twenty-five years, currently at Faith Church. My parents were both music majors and taught music in school as well as directed church choirs, so this is an unexpected twist to have me jump into their shoes for a time.

In my free time, I enjoy working out at the YMCA, listening to worship songs, going on vacations, playing board games and just having fun with my family.  This will be my fifth year coaching track at Crown Point Christian School. I also enjoy watching my kids participate in soccer, orchestra, band robotics, cheer leading and gymnastics.

I live with my family in Cedar Lake, Indiana. My husband, Eric, and I have been married for twenty years and have four children. Nathan, a junior, and Megan, a freshman, attend Crown Point High School. Autumn, in sixth grade, and Evan, in pre-Kindergarten, attend Crown Point Christian School.

My name is Brittany Eenigenburg and I am the first grade aide to Mrs. Berdine and the CAMP director at Crown Point Christian School.  I am blessed to have this opportunity and excited to see what God has in store for me this school year.

I married my amazing husband, Seth, in November of 2013.  We enjoy volunteering our time within the community and at church.  We also love to spend time with friends and family, going boating and camping.  Seth and I live in Crown Point, Indiana and spend a lot of our time at home doing projects and landscaping.  I enjoy baking, sewing, and trying out new recipes.  My favorite sports team is the Chicago Blackhawks.  One of my favorite Bible verses comes from II Timothy 3: 16-17, which tells us, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

My name is Lisa Hoekstra, and this is my third year teaching at Crown Point Christian School.  I am excited to begin teaching gym part-time this year.  The past two years I taught first grade at Crown Point Christian School.  I also taught Kindergarten for a year prior to teaching here.  I graduated in May 2013 from Trinity Christian College with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.

My husband Andrew and I live in Dyer.  We recently welcomed a new addition to our family!  Our daughter was born in July.  In our spare time, we enjoy being a part of our church's high school youth group.  I also love to play the piano, read, and cook.

My favorite verses are Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."  I also love the promises in Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

When my friend Gina Pitsenberger told me she was moving, I was so sad!  (Still am...) But when she asked if she could recommend me to take over her job at Crown Point Christian School, I was happy to say yes.  I have been teaching early childhood music classes for over 20 years, but have never had the chance to work in a Christian school.  I am excited about the opportunity to contribute something here at Crown Point Christian School.  I grew up going to Christian schools in Michigan, Colorado and California.

Musically, my background is in Piano Performance; I have a degree from Cal State Long Beach.  I also have a piano studio in the Homewood/Flossmoor area where I live, teaching the Simply Music method.  More recently, I have been learning to play the ukulele and am having lots of fun with that!

Personally, I am married.  My husband, Dave, is a pastor at Living Springs Community Church in Glenwood.  We have three children -- two teenage boys and a second grade daughter.

Keeping up with all the facets of my life can often feel overwhelming!  When I am tempted to feel like I'm not doing as well as I could be, I hold tight to Romans 8:1-2:  "Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death."

I began teaching at CPCS in 2009. I hold a BA from Trinity Christian College in History and PE and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Covenant College. I had the privilege of teaching at Illiana Christian from 1991-2000 and coached a variety of sports as well as served as Athletic Director. God called me and my family to Tennessee to become High School Principal at Chattanooga Christian. Following four great learning years in Tennessee, I then served as High School Principal at Kalamazoo Christian High School.

I took two years off from teaching and worked in the business world with an online learning company gaining valuable insights in eLearning. I am happily married to Lori who is an amazing NICU nurse (as well as great wife and mom) and we have three sons Kylen, Ethan, and Brenden (Kylen is a senior at Purdue Calumet University studying accounting, Ethan is a full-time plumbing apprentice with Action Plumbing and Brenden is in 8th grade at Crown Point Christian School.

I am thoroughly enjoying classroom teaching and administrating athletics. One of the biggest reasons I am in education is because of the influence and great instruction I received from coaches and teachers. My hope and prayer is that I can be an instrument of God to bring more kids into a lifelong love relationship with Christ. One of my favorite Bible verses is I Timothy 4:8, "For physical training is of some value, but Godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

My hobbies include refereeing basketball and soccer as well as playing golf. My passion is serving God through sports in any way that I can get involved. I love coaching and teaching kids in any area that involves being active!

My name is Cherilyn Klomp, and I love being part of the CPCS family!  I grew up in Lansing, Illinois attending both Lansing Christian and Illiana Christian schools.  I graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  I taught fourth grade previously at a Christian school in Illinois.  Here at Crown Point Christian School, I've worn many different hats as far as teaching is concerned.  I've loved them all!  This year, I am very excited about teaching Spanish.  Learning a foreign language is both fun and engaging!

I'm married to Kevin and we have two amazing children that attend Crown Point Christian School.  Olivia is nine and in fourth grade, and Brody is six and in first grade.  My husband owns his own business, and we are both very involved in the life of our church (Faith Church).

I am so excited to be part of Crown Point Christian School.  I have lived in South Holland, Illinois, for most of my life.  I attended Calvin Christian School and Illiana Christian High School.  I graduated from Calvin College.  I received a BA in Education with a major in Art.  Twenty years later I returned to school to get my Masters of Art from Governors State University.  I graduated in 2004 with my M.A.  I am currently teaching art part-time at Calvary Academy in South Holland where I have been for twenty-three years.  I dreamed of teaching art to students since I was little.  Before teaching art, I taught in Riverdale, Illinois, teaching junior high English, history, and reading.  So now I am honored to be teaching art to your children in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten.  I am excited to share God's creativity with your children.

I have one son, Bryan, who lives in Denver, Colorado.  I am also waiting to be a mother-in-law and a grandmother.  I will have to wait for that but I have a marvelous opportunity to teach your children.

My hobbies are working with pottery, painting, and pastels and teaching painting parties.  I also love being involved with the prayer ministry at my church.

I have many verses in the Bible which are important to me so to pick one is hard.  Jeremiah 29:11-14, has been my favorite for many years.  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you," declares the Lord, "and will bring you back from captivity.  I will gather you for all nations and places where I have banished you," declares the Lord, and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

My name is Luke Mazur, and I have been blessed with the position of being the computer teacher at Crown Point Christian School.  I previously taught for three years as an elementary school teacher.  I attended Western Illinois University and graduated in 2012.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Emily, and we have a home in Crete, Illinois.  Emily also works in the education field.  We attend Faith Church in Dyer.  When I am not teaching or attending services, I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, taking day trips to new places, working outside, and watching movies.

One of my favorite bible verses is John 4:8:  "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."

I was born and raised in Highland, Indiana, but I have been a resident of Saint John for the past 11 years.  I live with my husband, Craig, and two dogs.  I have three adult children -- two sons who are both living in New York and a daughter.  My daughter and son-in-law live in Lowell.  I have three wonderful grandchildren, one who attends Crown Point Christian School.  My husband and I are members of New Life CRC in Highland.

I received my degree in Music Education from Calvin College and my Masters in Music Education from Vander Cook College in Chicago.  I have been a music educator for 37 years; teaching general music and directing choirs and bands at Highland Junior High, Lansing Christian, and Highland Christian.  For the last 15 years I have been directing all bands at Illiana Christian High School.  I will continue directing bands at Illiana but am excited to be working with the bands at Crown Point Christian School.

I have many favorite Bible verses but Romans 8:38 is the first one that comes to mind:  "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Hello!  My name is Alissa Scott, and it is a blessing to be back at CPCS teaching Spanish.  I went to Calvin College where I majored in Spanish and elementary education.  While at Calvin I spent a semester in Spain and an interim in Mexico.  God has given me a heart for teaching the gift of language.  I have taught in a variety of schools in the area including: Illiana Christian, Trinity Christian College, Highland Christian, Lansing Christian and here at CPCS.

My husband, Steve, and I live in Dyer with our three children.  Natalie is in sixth grade, and Jake is in third grade at CPCS.  Charlie is one year old.  We spend most of our time going to softball, baseball, basketball and soccer games to watch Natalie and Jake play.  Also, we are active members of Pathway Church which meets in the gym at CPCS on Sunday mornings.

My favorite verse is Hebrews 12:2, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I am very blessed to be a part of the vibrant Christian community of Crown Point Christian School. My desire to teach Art is motivated by a love of children and creating art with my hands and spirit. It is such a privilege for me to share the gift of creating that God has given each of us as His children.

I have been blessed with four children, all married to wonderful, sincere Christians, and twelve amazing grandchildren, each unique and beautiful. My best times are spent with family and friends.  I enjoy outside activities, photography, crafts, painting, and a good book or movie.

I have many verses in the Bible that speak to me personally. Romans 8:37-38 reminds me that I am never alone or apart from the care and love of my Savior, no matter what the circumstances of life. "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. My name is Michelle Curry and I am a paraprofessional in the Discovery Center.  This is my first year at Crown Point Christian School and I feel honored to be part of an amazing school system that allows us to honor God on a daily basis.

I have an elementary education degree with a Kindergarten endorsement and a master of management.  I have had many careers in my lifetime but look forward to spending my future enriching the lives of children.

My name is Krystle Eenigenburg.  I'm happy to be part of CPCS as an employee.  I attended and graduated from CPCS and I am excited to be a part of the CPCS team as a Discovery Center Aide.  I look forward to working with the students and seeing what God has in store for me.

I graduated from Illiana Christian High School in 2005.  I have worked in childcare for the past five years working with children ages six weeks - twelve years old.  I love anything having to do with art, dancing, shopping, and listening to music.  I am a huge hockey fan and love the Chicago Blackhawks.  My favorite Bible verse is John 3:16.

My name is Faith Goldsberry and I am very excited to be part of Crown Point Christian School.  I grew up in Dyer and went through the Lake Central School Corporation.  I graduated from Lake Central High School in 2008.  I was blessed to be able to do my student teaching at Crown Point Christian School last fall.  I graduated in December of 2013 from Purdue University Calumet with degrees in both Elementary and Special Education.

From the time I was young, I knew God had an amazing plan for my life.  He has instilled in me a deep, compassionate love for people.  With every mission trip I was a part of, I began to realize that I was being called to teach.  Over the last ten years, God has truly blessed me with some incredible serving opportunities.  I have taught English in the Dominican Republic, served twice in an orphanage in Mexico, cleaned up New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, served on a Word of Life Campus in the Philippines, and just recently returned from Uganda, Africa where I was a Mission Intern with Joni & Friends.

I am excited to embark in the next chapter of my life here in the Discovery Center.  I love being in a school where sharing my love for Christ is embraced.  One of my life's verses is Joshua 1:9:  "Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

My name is Gail Goldsberry and this will be my first year teaching at Crown Point Christian School.  I am excited to see what God has in store for us this school year.

Before coming to Crown Point Christian School, I retired from a local special education cooperative where I spent the past 20 years teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities.  I spent the past three years as part of the diagnostic team testing and placing eligible students in special education services.

I have been married to my husband, Jack, for 34 years.  We have been blessed with three fantastic children, Melissa and Jack Cameron who are twins, and Tyler.  The twins are both pharmacists, Melissa at a local hospital and Jack Cameron at the Denver VA.  Our youngest son, Tyler, recently finished his Bachelor of Science in psychology and is newly married to Faith Patena Goldsberry a teacher in Student Services at Crown Point Christian School.

In my free time I enjoy book club, bunco, spending time with family, and following sports at Purdue University.  My entire family, including my parents, are Boilermakers!  We attend Suncrest Christian Church in St. John.

I am excited to embark in this new chapter of my life at Crown Point Christian School where sharing my love for Christ is embraced.  My favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 22:6, "Start a child off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it," and Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

After graduating from Trinity Christian College with my teaching licenses in elementary and special education, I taught special education in the public schools as a resource teacher and as a self-contained classroom teacher for students with mild to moderate disabilities.  I then spent five years teaching in the special education undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs at Trinity Christian College.  I am currently completing my doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a special education focus from Loyola University in Chicago.

My husband and I live in St. John and attend Bethel Church in Cedar Lake.  We welcomed our first child, Evelyn Esther, into our family on June 7th.  When I'm not teaching or studying, I enjoy golfing, watching movies, running, and cuddling our little Evey.

One of my favorite Scripture passages is Philippians 4:6-7:  "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

My name is Lisa Kampenga and I am overjoyed to be starting this journey of teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I grew up in Northwest Indiana and graduated from Lansing Christian School and Illiana Christian High School. Then, God led me on an adventure to pursue my degree in Special Education and Elementary Education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

Throughout my time in Arizona I was involved in multiple outreach opportunities serving those in the community and teaching them about God’s love. I spent much of my summers as a camp counselor with SpringHill Camps where I was able to share the Word of God with children across the Midwest. I am passionately involved in the special needs ministry at Faith Church, where I had the privilege of interning and am now continuing in the work of the Lord. In my free time I enjoy baking, reading, going to the beach, watching the Cubs and the Blackhawks as well as spending time with my family and friends.

This past spring I was blessed to have completed my student teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I am ecstatic to now be taking on the role of Middle School Student Services teacher as well as the sixth grade Language Arts teacher. I am thrilled to continue God’s work with the passion He has instilled in me to teach and proclaim His Word and the love of Jesus Christ to children and everyone God places in my path. Lately, God has been uplifting me with Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He shall make your paths straight.”

I am thankful that God brought me to Crown Point Christian School and I am excited to be working in the Discovery Center.  I grew up in the area and attended Lansing Christian and Illiana Christian.  I then went to Dordt College and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education.  After graduation I taught fifth and sixth graders in a small Christian school in Nebraska for two years.  I then moved back home and got a job teaching in the Discovery Center at Highland Christian.  I taught there for four years.  During that time, I married my husband, Chris.  We moved to Tinley Park where we started our family and I stayed home with our kids.  My passion for teaching, though, kept me busy as I was very active in the childrens' ministries at my church where I taught MOPPETS and volunteered in other childrens' ministries.  I also did some subbing and worked part-time at Gymboree Play and Music, teaching preschool age children.  Last year I returned to the school setting where I worked at Elim Christian School.  I am excited to be part of the Crown Point Christian School community and am so thankful for Christian education.

I have been blessed with three wonderful children.  They all attend Crown Point Christian School.  Jonathan is in sixth grade, Alyssa is in third grade, and Sara is in first grade.  We recently built a house and moved to Dyer, Indiana.  We have been attending Faith Church in Dyer.  My favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6:  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

My name is Jane Pegman.  My husband and I just recently moved from Woodridge, Illinois to a new house in the Gates of St. John.  My plan was to be retired but I found that I was bored being home every day.  I am now a part time paraprofessional in the Discovery Center and also volunteer at the Christian school thrift shop.  Formerly I was an aide at Timothy Christian School for six years and also an aide at a school for autism for 13 years.  We have four children and two grandchildren.  My interests include boating, counted cross stitch, knitting, and reading.  My favorite verse is Philippians 4:6: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

Hello!  My name is Stanton Rayson, and I'm excited for another year with the students and staff at Crown Point Christian School.  I earned a Bachelors Degree from Governors State University in Speech Language Pathology, and a Masters from Purdue Calumet in Special Education.  My wonderful wife, Jessie Ackerson, teaches Spanish Immersion here at Crown Point Christian School.  Together we're raising our son, Lincoln, to speak both languages, share his toys, talk to God, and tease his grandparents.

Prior to teaching at Crown Point Christian School, I taught special education at Calumet New Tech High School in Gary, Indiana.  I've also worked as a paraprofessional for a transition to adulthood program, and as an assistant and program coordinator for the youth services department of a public library.  I love working with children, teaching them and learning from them as well.

I have a passion for music, and I enjoy playing many instruments, including lately the Irish whistle and the Appalachian or mountain dulcimer.  I also dabble in making and modifying musical instruments.  I've performed with a couple of church praise bands, playing keyboard, guitar, bass, and low whistle.  I particularly enjoy Irish and American traditional music, classic and progressive rock, and Chris Rice Singing hymns.

A favorite verse of mine is from Genesis 1:  "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."

My name is Kristen Sederstrom and I am so thankful to be teaching at Crown Point Christian this year!   I love the opportunity God has given me to teach in a Christian school, where I can share God’s goodness and love with my students every single day.  I am constantly amazed at the many ways the school, administration, and staff impacts my family’s lives every day, and I am so excited to now be a part of this community.

I grew up in the area and attended Lansing Christian and Illiana Christian.  I graduated from Dordt College with my BA in Elementary Education and Music. It was at Dordt where I met my wonderful husband, Nathan.  After graduating, we headed to Florida where I taught third grade for six years until starting a family. In 2006, our family moved to Cedar Lake and quickly began expanding. We currently have five children here at CPCS—Treyton, Ryan, Raelyn, Caitlin, and Colten.

My family is involved at Pathway Church, loves to camp throughout the summer, and spends time volunteering with Faith & Action. One of my favorite verses is Romans 8:28,”We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”  I am constantly reminded that God is in control of ALL things, many of them out of our control.  What a reassurance!

My name is Ashley Zandstra, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be Crown Point Christian School's speech-language pathologist (SLP).

I grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois and attended Timothy Christian School.  From there, I attended Calvin College where I majored in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.  I received my Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Saint Xavier University in 2011, and before coming to Crown Point Christian School, worked at Elim Christian School for 4+ years.

I met my husband, Joel, during my senior year at Calvin.  Together we have three children -- Owen, Jack, and Penelope.  We love spending time outdoors in God's creation, eating good food, and hanging out with our little ones.

One of my favorite Bible verses at the moment is from 1 Corinthians 13 (MSG):  "Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly.  And the best of the three is love."
