My name is Kristin DeVries and I am thankful to be teaching another year at Crown Point Christian School as a 3 day Pre-Kindergarten teacher. I love this age for the honesty, excitement, and wonder they bring to each day.  I look forward to getting to know these little ones and how God has created them each so special.  This is my seventh year of teaching in Early Childhood and I have also taught at Crown Point Christian School in a maternity leave position and as a classroom aide.
I graduated from North Park University with degrees in Early Childhood and English.  My husband, Jason, and I have three children.  Our oldest child, Anneke is a junior in college.  Our son, Justin, is his last year of high school at Illiana Christian High School and our younger daughter, Kate, is in her first year at ICHS.  We have been so blessed over the years by Crown Point Christian School.  We appreciate the way the teachers have poured into our kids and it's exciting to see the countless ways Christ is at work.
Two of my favorite verses are, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer" (Romans 12:12) and "Throw yourself into the work of the Lord, confident that nothing you do for Him is a waste of time" (I Corinthians 15:58).  Both verses have been encouragement and a challenge to me in the recent years during different circumstances and seasons of life.

My name is Heather Foust and I am an aide for the pre-kindergarten classes. This is my 11th year at Crown Point Christian School. I grew up in Lansing, Illinois and worked downtown Chicago as a secretary for 12 years. My family and I live in Cedar Lake, Indiana. My husband, Erik, and I have two children.  Justin is a freshman at Purdue University West Lafayette and Becca is a junior at Illiana Christian High School.

I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, working in my yard and camping with my family. My favorite bible verse is Matthew 6:34. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

My name is Melissa Porter.  This will be my fourth year as a part of the Crown Point Christian School staff.

Christian education has built such a foundation in my heart for the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.  My husband, Rick, and I have two children.  Hazel is in fifth grade and Maverick is in third grade at CPCS.  The past three years I have loved being part of the Crown Point Christian School family.  I have served on the Fine Arts Committee, as a room mom, and have spent time in the classroom.  My life has been impacted by many faithful teachers, coaches and volunteers who gave of their gifts and time to show me the love of our Lord.  I pray the Lord will use me in His classroom and may all the glory be to Him for the amazing things He is doing at Crown Point Christian School.

My favorite Bible verse is:  "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Hold Spirit."  Romans 15:13

I have been teaching at Crown Point Christian School for twenty years, but I have taught at other schools such as Fort Wayne Public Schools, Living Stones Christian School (both of which are in Fort Wayne, Indiana) and Oral Roberts University Early Learning Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I attended Wauseon High School, Wauseon, Ohio. I went on to Fort Wayne Bible College, now known as Taylor University in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

I truly enjoy teaching the little children. It's an honor and a joy to invest into the lives of each and every child. Most of you know that I call my students "friends" and am known for the saying that I regularly reiterate to my "friends", which is that we are "always learning". How true that saying is for our entire lives!

My hobbies are my family and spending time with them. I am widowed and have three young adult children that live in the area. I am a proud "Nana" to my grandchildren! I also enjoy my church, going for walks, reading books and stopping at garage sales. I must say that you never know what treasures you might find!!

My favorite Bible scriptures are Psalm 1 and I Corinthians 16:13, "Be watchful, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong."

My name is Lori Eenigenburg. I have been a teacher's aide at Crown Point Christian School for nineteenyears. I've also enjoyed coaching cheerleading and girls volleyball over the years at CPCS. I am overwhelmed with joy when I walk into the school every day and thank God for blessing our school.

I married my wonderful husband, Tim, in 1985 and we have enjoyed volunteering our time to CPCS and watching it blossom.  We have three grown children, all of whom graduated from CPCS.  My daughter, Krystle, works at CPCS in Student Services. My son, Josh is married to my beautiful daughter-in-law, Christie.  They have a daughter, Aleigha (5), and a son, Calvin (3).  My daughter, Kellsey, is married to Brent Bultema and they have a nine month old daughter, Savannah. My family and I live in Cedar Lake, Indiana where we have fun playing with our horse and gardening.  I also enjoy canning, cooking and roller coasters!  I am very involved in my church and plan and host fellowship activities and dinners.  My favorite sports team is the Chicago Blackhawks. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 139:14, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

My name is Arlene Mojica. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and I am married to Ernesto, the love of my life whom I met in eighth grade. We have been happily married for 25 years and we have two children Jonathan and Paola. I studied Business Administration and Education and I am currently a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Teaching at the Universidad del Turabo in Puerto Rico.

I have 21 years of experience in the field of education and have had the great blessing of starting my career as a teacher's assistant in a pre-school. Throughout my career I have worked in all levels of teaching from pre-school to university and in addition to being a teacher at the elementary level, I have also been a secondary level math teacher and university professor. I am currently a member of the Online Faculty of Business Administration and Technology of the National University College of Puerto Rico.

This is my second year in Crown Point Christian School and God has allowed me to continue contributing to the growth of the Spanish Program as the Spanish Program Point Person. I hope that God will help me to work in a team with my colleagues and to be able to do better what we already do well.  I love teaching and I'm in this school because God brought me here. When I think about the possibilities in which I could find a place to teach in Spanish in Northwest Indiana, I can only believe that each of the experiences I have had in my life prepared me for the mission that God has for me in this place.

My name is Susan Landman and I am excited to be teaching my second year at Crown Point Christian School. Kindergarten has always been a love of mine! It is a year where the children show a huge amount of growth academically, socially, and spiritually. I love this age for these students’ great curiosity and their excitement for God and His world.

I graduated from Trinity Christian College with a BA degree in Elementary Education. My husband Ken and I are blessed with two children. Our oldest, Jenna, is in eighth grade. Our son, Drew, is in fifth grade. We are thrilled that both of them have had the privilege to attend Crown Point Christian. We appreciate how teachers not only teach their subject matter, but how they have pointed our children to Jesus all along the way. In our free time, we enjoy snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, camping, and playing board games.

My favorite verses are Isaiah 41:10 and Jeremiah 29:11. These verses remind me to trust in God in all situations because He sees the big picture and is in control of all things.

Hi! My name is Denise Van Drunen. It is such a blessing to Kindergarten at Crown Point Christian School. Teaching has been my passion for as long as I can remember and being able to incorporate Christ into my classroom is such a joy.

I graduated from Trinity Christian College with a BA degree in elementary education. This will be my thirteenth year of teaching, my eighth at CPCS. I have been blessed to work at a variety of Christian schools in various parts of the country.

My husband's name is Ron. He is a plumber by trade. We have been blessed with five wonderful children: Dylan, Travis, Haley, Ty, and last, but not least, Collin.  Dylan is starting his college journey at Purdue Northwest this year.  Travis and Haley attend Illiana Christian High School. Ty, and Collin are at Crown Point Christian School.  We enjoy outside activities (that burn off a lot of energy) as a family. When time allows, I enjoy running, camping, boating, reading, trying new recipes, and spending time with family and friends.

My name is Betsy Zimmer.  I have taught kindergarten at Crown Point Christian School since the fall of 1999. I am married to an amazing Christian man named Michael.  We have two daughters.  Maggie is married (to my son-in-law, Will) and they reside in Seattle, Washington.  We don't see them often due to their location, but we talk on the phone  each week for hours!    My younger daughter is Morgen, who graduated from CPCS, was in my first kindergarten class here at CPCS.  She is currently in the honors program at Ball State University, my alma mater, studying to be a teacher.

I love making the Bible and other books we read in class come alive for my students.  I use music (including playing my mandolin), theater, crafts and games to enhance the learning process.  I was honored in 2005 as the Walmart/Sam's Club teacher of the year in Northwest Indiana.  However, my true reward is seeing children get curious and excited about learning.

My favorite Bible verse changes almost from day to day.  I am always amazed at how God can reach my spirit with a verse that I have come across a thousand times in a fresh or personal way.  My favorite hymn is "Be Thou My Vision" and one of my favorite praise songs is "In Christ Alone".

Hello! I am Mrs. Stefanie Berdine and this is my ninth year teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I am so blessed to be at this school and love teaching first grade. It is my passion to teach children about the Lord and his love for us.  Previously, I taught seven years in the public schools teaching second and fifth grades. Also, I was a school counselor at Kankakee Valley Intermediate School in Wheatfield. I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education at Ball State University and a Master's Degree in School Counseling at Purdue University.

My husband Jeff and I live in Cedar Lake with our son Noah and our labradoodle Ellie.  He plays for the worship team at our church and I serve in the children's nursery.   My hobbies are cooking, reading, traveling, knitting, vegetable gardening, bike riding, and running.

My favorite bible verses are Psalm 19:14," May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer," and 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline."

My name is Gaby Dunnett. I am from Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. I have an older brother and a younger sister.  I grew up in a traditional Mexican family. Very strong values and hardworking.

The majority of my education has been completed in Mexico.  I earned my Human Resources Administration degree from Universidad Autonoma Del Noreste, where I also played collegiate volleyball and worked full time while studying. In 2004, it became apparent in order to utilize my degree I needed to be fluid in speaking and writing the English language. With my father's support, I joined the Cultural Care AuPair program. I was extremely fortunate to be part of a wonderful host family who introduced me to the American culture and trusted me with their two children. This experience provided the foundation for me to change my vocational interest.

It was near the end of the AuPair program when I meet my husband. We have now been married for almost eleven years and have two remarkable girls. Sofia who is eight and Renee who is five. Our family attends Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana. We live in Schererville, Indiana with our dog Luna, two cats Lana and Mamaciata, two turtles Fred and Blue and our fish Jack.

Before having children, I taught Spanish at Portage High School in Portage, Indiana. I elected to stay at home and raise my girls before returning to the work force. I know that God has a plan for my family and his timing is perfect. When the opportunity presented itself to work at CPCS, I knew it was all part of his plan.

I live in Cedar Lake with my husband, Steve, and my two children, Jason, a junior and Jillian, a freshmen at Illiana Christian. Crown Point Christian School has been such a blessing to my family and I consider it a privilege to work here.

My name is Abby Johnson, and I am a full-time aide for Mrs. Berdine’s first-grade class. This is my first year at Crown Point Christian School and I am very excited to be here. My family and I recently moved to the area to be closer to family and to my husband Erik’s job in Chicago. We have two kids - Sutton is in 2nd grade and Asher is in Pre-K. I have my Bachelors's degree in Social Work from Calvin College and my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. My hobbies are traveling, baking, reading, and CrossFit. My favorite Bible passage is Colossians 3:12-14 - "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

My name is Jill Rich, and I teach First Grade at Crown Point Christian School. This is my 11th year of teaching at CPCS; however, the classroom is not a new environment to me. My teaching career spans a total of twenty-five years now, and my experiences include both public and private schools. My calling has always been to be a teacher. There is nothing better than watching/helping children reach their full God-given potential. I earned my Bachelor's degree in 1995 from Illinois State University.

My family and I currently reside in Cedar Lake, Indiana. My family includes my husband, Justin, and our two children. My daughter, Julie, is a graduate of CPCS and is a college student at Purdue Northwest.  My son, John, is also a graduate of CPCS and is a freshman at Hanover Central High School. We also have some "furry" members of our family. We have two dogs:  Jasper and Rosco.  We have also rescued two cats:  Kramer and Jerry.

In my spare time, I enjoy singing in community choirs like the Illiana Oratorio Society. In addition to singing, I enjoy playing the piano for my own personal enjoyment and enjoy helping lead our monthly CPCS "Wing Sings". My family and I also like to go camping. We have camped several places, including Yellowstone National Park, the beaches of Fort Meyers, and Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground.

My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:4-7, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Hi! I'm Joyce Koster. Second graders are my passion! They see the delight of the world in a way that inspires me. I received my BA in Education from University of Illinois at Chicago and have been teaching in public as well as private school for over 22 years!  It is my joy to be a part of the 2019/2020 staff at CPCS.

I’m married to my best friend, Kurt and we live in Crown Point. When we are not working on home projects we enjoy kayaking, theater and hockey games. Our favorite past time is spending time with our adult children. Our son Nicholas and his wife Sarah live in South Holland. Our daughter Katie and her husband, Brian live in Plainfield with our precious grandson, Will. Our youngest, Bradley is married to Sammi and they live in Hobart with our darling grandson, Lincoln.

God's Word has been a light to my path. I have so many stories of His faithfulness in my walk with him. I would have to say that the Bible verse that continues to be my comfort, my rock in tricky times and my joy in all circumstances is Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." This verse has guided my teaching, for I have seen time and again our God do immeasurably more than I could ever ask or imagine with the amazing children He brings into my classroom!

My name is Diana Martinez. I was born and raised in México City, México . I studied Information Technology Management in México and it was then I met my husband, Martin. We married and left our home country to live in Ontario, Canada. We established our life in Ontartio, became Canadians and had two children: Kevin (10) and Jessica (7). While in Canada, I studied paralegal education and received a License for the Law Society of Upper Canada. I started the “job of my dreams”, however, God had a different plan for us.

In the summer of 2012, my husband was offered a job in Chicago, Illinois. We moved to Northwest Indiana where we started attending Faith Church. I heard many times from our pastors at Faith Church, “find your gift and serve God."  I never knew what my “gift” was and then the Spanish Immersion program started at Crown Point Christian School. I began volunteering in the program while simultaneously working on my masters work in Education Technology.

Today, I have realized that God was preparing me to be a testimony of faith and patience. I have found my “gift” and I have in my heart God’s calling to teach His children in the same school that my own kids attend, CPCS.   I am the real testimony that God uses all aspects of your life to comply with His purpose.

My name is Elaine Nosich. I grew up in South Holland, IL where I attended Calvin Christian School. After graduating, my family moved to Holland, MI where I attended Holland Christian High School. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College and completed my Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy through Walden University. I began my teaching career at Roseland Christian School in Chicago, where I taught for seven years.  I have been teaching at Crown Point Christian School since 2010. I am so glad to be part of the family here!

As a teacher I strive to create a classroom environment where students know they are cared for and valued. I want my classroom to be a happy and joyful place that students look forward to coming to each morning. My students will know that it is okay to make mistakes. We are in this together and can learn and grow from each other.  I love teaching because every day is different and exciting.  It is so rewarding to watch the students blossom into readers and writers!

I live in Munster with my husband, Jeff.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time downtown Chicago.

My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:31 "Those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."

My name is Melanie Tameling.  I graduated in 2001 from Trinity Christian College with a degree in Elementary Education.  I previously taught special education and Kindergarten in the public school system. For the past 2 years I taught 3rd grade at CPCS.  I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade at Crown Point Christian School.  

My husband, Bob, and I live in Lowell with our three children, Robby, Emma, and Elise who all attend Crown Point Christian School.  We also have a dog, she is a puggle named Sadie. In our free time, we enjoy boating on Cedar Lake and going out to dinner!

Teaching is my passion!  In my classroom I strive for every child to feel cared for and appreciated in a safe in a structured learning environment.   As soon as you enter my classroom you will see my theme is anchors. You will find many anchors along with Bible verses throughout my room.  Jesus is the anchor for my soul. If you have a chance, come in and take a look at my room!  

My favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:2, "Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you may test and approve what God’s will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." This verse has spoken to me in different ways throughout the years. Being a Christian school teacher, my prayer is that we will not have our children conform to the world, but we will raise them to be able to stand strong in the world.

Third Grade

I am beside myself with excitement to start this new adventure as the first grade Spanish Immersion Teacher at Crown Point Christian School.  I have a profound love of teaching kids and of languages, and the opportunity to combine the two in my own classroom in an environment as rich as Crown Point Christian School, frankly, has me in shock at God's goodness.  Not only that, but He's opened a place here from my husband as well, so we get to do this together!

I'm an eclectic soul, with a passion for linguistics, banjo, and textiles.  I also love clay and gardening and fiddling and painting interesting things on my walls and ceiling.  I've traveled in a number of countries (picking up bits of language and delicious food, of course!) and have spent quite a bit of time in Spain.

I've taught for 14 years in a number of capacities, from eighth grade Industrial Arts to Preschool ESL classes, and a lot of things in between.  I hold endorsements in a number of areas and went to Millikin, St. Xavier, St. Francis, and a few other places, but most of all I've learned to be a teacher from being around great teachers, and constantly seeking new ways to reach my students.

With the beginning of this new adventure, I'm praying for wisdom and creativity to flow through each day of class, for patience, peace and understanding for parents who are jumping into something so new and exciting, and for curiosity and good hearts to drive the kids who are about to immerse themselves in my classroom.

I have no idea how I would pick a favorite Bible verse, but here's one that has struck with me for a very long time, and serves me well:  "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."  Philippians 4:8

I am Dawn Gibson, and it is such a privilege to teach third grade at Crown Point Christian School.  I graduated from Trinity Christian College in 1989, and I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with minors in History, Special Education, and Theology. I was a substitute teacher for a semester and then taught third grade at Highland Christian School before starting a family.

My family consists of my husband (Scott), our four children (Candice, Jori, Laci, Issac), and my niece (Desi). We have three dogs.  As a family we enjoy going downtown, attending sporting events and getting together with family and friends.

I feel extremely blessed to be teaching in a Christ-centered environment.  My favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

My name is Miss Zandstra. I love teaching third grade at Crown Point Christian School. I love helping kids and teaching new things.

I graduated from Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois. I then attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1997. I taught second grade for five years in San Jose, California. I moved to Crown Point in 2002. It has been such a privilege to teach third grade here at Crown Point Christian.

I enjoy competing in dog shows, playing sports and swimming. I have two four-legged family members named Adidas and Skechers. My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

Hello! My name is Mrs. Ambrose. I teach 4th grade at Crown Point Christian School. I attended Faith Christian High in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois.

I began my teaching career here at CPCS in 1989 with the school's first third grade class. The next year I continued with a combined third/fourth grade class. For the past several years I have taught fourth grade. I love the age of my students. Most of them are interested in school and still get excited about the things we are learning.

My favorite thing about Crown Point Christian School is that we are a nondenominational school. Students are from many different church backgrounds, yet we are all related in our love for the Lord.

My name is Joslyn Burnett, and I love teaching fourth grade at Crown Point Christian School!  It's an honor and a privilege to be part of this school family and community.  Each year I look forward to getting to know each of my students and encouraging them in their academic and spiritual growth.

I graduated from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  In 2003, after a mission trip to Botswana, Africa, I felt led to pursue a career in teaching.  I graduated from Calumet College of Saint Joseph with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  It has been a wonderful blessing to be part of this school community.

I'm married to my best friend, Brent, and we have three wonderful children.  We reside in Hobart, Indiana.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, writing, running, hiking, and spending time with my family.  We attend Living Stones Church in Crown Point where I'm a small group coach and a mentor for newly married couples.

Many of my favorite verses have to do with endurance.  Hebrews 12:1-2 says, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.  And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.  For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."  I believe that as we run the race set before us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus, there is nothing we can't accomplish or overcome!

Hola!  My name is Jenni Haemker. I was born and raised in Wisconsin. (Go Packers!) I graduated from Martin Luther College in Minnesota in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish.  I have always had a love of languages and children.  During college, I was able to take an immersion trip to study in Mexico.  I also formally studied Spanish in Ecuador, even in the rainforest!  I took a year off college to work with our church mission in Bogotá, Colombia and began a new English program there where we had students ranging from 5 years old to 80!

After graduating, I moved to Crete, IL and began a brand new Spanish program at Illinois Lutheran High School. During this time, the Lord blessed me in many ways.  I met and married my husband, Dave, after 2 years of living here.  The Lord put it on our hearts to go to Russia and pursue adopting a baby.  We adopted our son, Jacob, in 2004 from Novokuznetsk, Russia. One year later, we learned his baby sister had been born and we returned to Russia to bring Anna home!  What wonderful blessings they are!  During their younger years I stayed home with them.  Once they were in grade school, I worked in the Crete public school district full time, covering many different areas. This included filling six different Spanish maternity leaves, ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.

I am thrilled to teach fourth grade Spanish Immersion at Crown Point Christian School.  I pray the Lord will use me in the ways He knows best.  

It’s hard to choose a favorite Bible verse, but one that is always encouraging to me is Colossians 3:23-24: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

My name is Kari Krygsheld and this will be my first year teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I am so excited to be a part of the fourth grade team this year. The minute I entered through the doors at CPCS, I felt welcomed and loved. I am excited to be a part of this Christ-centered school where students learn about the Lord each and every day.

I grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where I attended Timothy Christian Schools from first grade through high school. After high school I attended Trinity Christian College where I studied Elementary and Special Education. The last three years I have taught as a high school special education teacher at Elim Christian Services. Two of those years I also coached high school JV girls’ basketball. I have a passion to work with students of all ages and abilities. God led me to Crown Point Christian School this year and I am thrilled to have this opportunity!

My husband, Steve, and I were married in October of 2017. We currently live in Munster, Indiana with our dog, Jax. In our free time we enjoy spending time with friends and family, cooking, biking, boating, having bonfires, doing house projects and spending time outside.

It is such a joy to be a teacher. I have known that I wanted to be a teacher for a long time. God has put different people in my life to teach and shape me into the person and teacher that I am today. I see each day as an opportunity to practice and teach the fruits of the spirit. I strive to create a classroom where students feel cared for and safe. I cannot wait to teach fourth grade this year and see what God has in store for our classroom and this group of students! My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Hi, my name is Jodi Czernobil. I attended Lansing Christian School and Illiana Christian High School. I graduated from Moody Bible Institute and received my teaching degree from Calumet College of St. Joseph. I have taught third, fifth, and sixth grade at Highland, Indiana public schools. I am very excited to be joining the staff at Crown Point Christian School. I look forward to growing in my faith with my students, their families, and my coworkers.
My husband, Jim, and I attend Crossroads Community Church.  In our spare time we like to hike, travel, and get involved in church ministry opportunities. My favorite Bible verse is Lamentations 3:22-23, "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." This verse has special reminders to me about our wonderful God.

My name is Erin LaRue and I am so thankful to teach at Crown Point Christian School! I love teaching in a Christian school because it gives me the opportunity to share our amazing God with my students.

This is my eighth year at Crown Point Christian School and my thirteenth year of teaching.  I lived and taught in Alexandria, Virginia (3rd grade) and in Fremont, California (5th grade) prior to moving to Northwest Indiana.  I attended Worthington Christian High School in Worthington, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.  Having grown up in Christian schools, I understand firsthand the importance and significance that a Biblical education can have on a student's life.

My husband Brian and I attend Bethel Church in Crown Point, where I sing in the choir and teach a women's Bible study. We love to travel--anywhere and everywhere! My favorite verse is Philippians 1:6, "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."

My name is Kristi Livingston and I teach fifth grade here at Crown Point Christian School.  I grew up in Lansing, Illinois, and attended Lansing Christian School and Illiana Christian High School.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College, and then later received my Master of Arts in Education from Ashford University.  Having grown up in Christian schools, I am a strong proponent of Christian education and find it an honor and privilege to be able to share God with my students.  I find joy in learning alongside my students about the importance of forgiveness, grace, and redemption.  I was blessed to grow up in a family where my parents and four younger siblings loved being together, loved laughing together, and loved eating together.  I take this mentality into the classroom with me, building a caring and safe community in which my students can learn and grow.

I have been in education for 15 years, teaching Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade.  I have also been both a curriculum coordinator and an English language support teacher.  I count it a huge blessing to work alongside the teachers at Crown Point Christian School and love the community fostered here.  I have also taught at Highland Christian School and Tall Oaks Christian School, as well as at international schools overseas in both South Korea and Thailand.

I live in Whiting, Indiana, and attend Faith Church.  My husband, Kevin, and I enjoy festivals, museums, parks, restaurants, and theater productions.  I love the many forms of art and relish creating.  I also like to bake and cook.  My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 48:17b "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go."  I take great comfort in knowing that God's plans for me are perfect and He will guide and lead me.

Hello! My name is Leticia Sanchez. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Growing up I had the privilege of attending a Christian school and I know what an impact it has made in my life and that is why Christian education has always been very dear to my heart.

I attended Hyles Anderson College, where I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education. After graduating I moved to Mobile, Alabama, where I taught third grade for two years. Seeing students grow mentallly and spiritually, develop a passion for favorite subjects and grow in their talents and abilities is what makes teaching so enjoyable for me.

I love to go running, bake, and travel. Getting to experience and learn different cultures, languages, and (most importantly) food has been eye opening. I believe it benefits us in many ways to have these experiences. That is why I am so excited to be the fifth grade Spanish Immersion teacher at Crown Point Christian School.

I attend First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana, which is the church I grew up in. My favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” These verses remind me His ways are always better than ours. I am so glad that the Lord has led me to Crown Point Christian School and am excited to join this awesome team!

Hello, my name is Stephanie Aardsma. This is my second year teaching at Crown Point Christian School. I am excited to continue my teaching journey at the grade school I attended. I graduated from Grace College in May of 2018 with a degree in Elementary Education. I have had many opportunities to observe great teachers and to teach along some as well. I consider myself truly blessed to be working with the amazing staff at CPCS.

I look forward to meeting the students God is going to bring into my life. My desire is to not only help these students grow academically, but spiritually as well. I am excited to be working with some of the teachers who I have looked up to.

In my free time, I enjoy reading and watching movies. My favorite sports team is the Chicago Blackhawks! If I am not at home, you can find me laughing with my friends or visiting family. My favorite Bible verse changes with each season of my life, but right now I have two; Psalm 16:8: “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” and Colossians 1:17: “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

My name is Kate Adams and this is my fourth year teaching sixth grade science. I grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and attended Sheboygan County Christian School. I love to be active and outdoors, and enjoy things like running, camping, biking, and going to the beach. I also love to simply hang out with my family and play games. I am an avid sports fan, and especially love the Olympics, World Cup, March Madness, and NFL football (Go Packers!). My favorite verse is Titus 3:5.

My husband of ten years, Vinnie, and I live in Crown Point, Indiana. He leads worship and the Reflectors Ministry at Faith Church (Dyer, IN). We have two boys - Jakob, who is in First Grade Spanish Immersion at CPCS, and Josiah, who is four years old.

I graduated from Calvin College in 2009 with a degree in biology and secondary education and then worked at Timothy Christian (Elmhurst, IL) for 7 years before coming to CPCS. In my classroom I try to use student-driven questions and inquiry-based activities to address students' misconceptions and present science concepts as models, which is more reflective of the true nature of science. Teaching in this way encourages students to be engaged, peaking their interest and developing a deeper understanding of the content.

Most importantly, I strive to use the science classroom as a place to discuss the relationship between science and faith. I love finding out about God while exploring His creation; and I am passionate about trying to understand what it means to live as a responsible Christian in God's world. I hope to pass this love on to my students as well. General revelation is all around; and all we have to do is take a closer look to have a glimpse into the awesomeness of our Creator!

Hello, I am Nanelle Hairston and I am excited to be teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies at CPCS.  I am a graduate of Liberty University. At Liberty, I received my Bachelor’s in Education and Christian Counseling, along with my Masters in Public Health. 

I am originally from Decatur, IL. It was there that I had the privilege of developing curriculum and teaching for New Life Pregnancy Center. It was during that time that God really gave me a passion for education. My family relocated to Hobart three years ago when my husband, JJ accepted a senior pastor position at Barrington Ridge Baptist Church. After our move, God opened a door for me to teach with Hammond and I believe without a doubt that God has also opened this door for me to pursue my love of education here at CPCS. 

My family instantly fell in love with Northwest Indiana and my husband and I have enjoyed serving our new community with our three children. Our oldest daughter Crisse just graduated from Hobart and will be attending IUN. Our daughter Calle is a junior at Hobart and our son Jayme attends Hobart Middle School. When we are not at work or church you can usually find our family cheering on our kids in a variety of sports or taking road trips to discover new places. 

God’s Word has changed my life and I am excited to once again be able to speak His truth in the classroom. I could never decide on a favorite verse, but one that I am loving during this season of my life is Habakkuk 3:19. “The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.”  I can't wait to see what God is going to do as He enables me to walk this new path.

My name is Lisa Kampenga and I am overjoyed to be teaching my 3rd year at Crown Point Christian School as the sixth grade Literature Teacher and Middle School Student Services Teacher. I grew up in Northwest Indiana and graduated from Lansing Christian School and Illiana Christian High School. Then, God led me on an adventure to pursue my degree in Special Education and Elementary Education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Throughout my time in Arizona I was involved in multiple outreach opportunities serving those in the community and teaching them about God’s love. I spent much of my summers working with SpringHill Camps and the last couple summers with Joni and Friends Family Retreats. 

I am overjoyed to be marrying my best friend, Kevin, this fall. We enjoy being adventurous, hiking, baking, reading, spending time in the Word, and laughing together. We are huge Cubs fans so we spend a lot of time watching games, as well as enjoying the company of family and friends. 

I am thrilled to continue God’s work with the passion He has instilled in me to teach and proclaim His Word and the love of Jesus Christ to children and everyone God places in my path. Lately, God has been uplifting me with Philippians 4:4-7 - "Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Hello. My name is Larry Knootz. I was born in November of 1961. I went to Johnstown Christian High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and graduated in 1985 from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. I am closing in on 30 years of teaching, with the majority of those years being here at CPCS. Florida and Pennsylvania were the other states I taught. My family is made up of my wife, Jean, college students Emily and Cody, and high school junior Cassidy. We currently live in Merrillville, Indiana.

I am in charge of a 7th grade homeroom as well as teaching Bible and novel studies to 7th and 8th grades at Crown Point Christian School. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the light go on when a student who is having a hard time suddenly understands.

My outside interests and hobbies include collecting baseball cards and coaching basketball and soccer. My favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, "Therefore do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Hello!  My name is Jenny Kuiken.  I am so excited to be teaching sixth grade at Crown Point Christian School.  Christian education has always had a special place in my heart as I've attended Lansing Christian School, Illiana Christian High School and graduated from Trinity Christian College with a degree in Elementary Education.

I am so blessed with my three wonderful children. Rylee attends Purdue Northwest seeking a degree in Business, Luke attends Hanover High School, and David is in seventh grade at Crown Point Christian School.  We are a sports-oriented family, playing soccer, softball, basketball, and volleyball in our spare time.  Following my passion for sports, I have also served as a coach for track, soccer, junior varsity and town softball, and basketball.  Go Crusaders!  We are members of Faith-Cedar Lake and serve in the Faith Kid's program.

One of my favorite Bible passages is Deuteronomy 31:8, "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."  How awesome is that?  God is always with us!  We have seen that in the growth of our school, outstanding and devoted staff, and loving caring parents.  I consider it an honor and privilege to serve on staff and continue to discern God's leading for our children at CPCS.

Hello! I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduated from Trinity Christian College in May, 2018, with majors in English Education and Middle Grades Education and a minor in Theology. This is my second year teaching seventh and eighth grade English Language Arts at Crown Point Christian School.

At Trinity, I was involved in campus ministry and the freshman orientation/mentorship program. I student taught in Illinois and California. I love traveling, rock climbing, playing guitar, and singing. Last summer, I had the opportunity to travel to Israel and explore the holy land. I am so blessed by this opportunity to help fosters students’ love for learning by teaching them about God’s world through reading and writing.

My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing!   Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” As Christians, we have hope and peace through God. He is the one guiding our lives and giving us strength, and for that I am so incredibly thankful.

Hello, I am Emily O'Brien and I am so excited to be teaching 7th grade science at CPCS. I am a graduate of Purdue University Calumet were I played volleyball and earned my Bachelor of Science and a second Bachelor in Secondary Education. I have taught in public education for the past 11 years, starting in Hammond, moving to Griffith and finally spending this last year in Hobart.

I am married to the love of my life, Danny, who works for Union Pacific Railroad. We have 3 children. Kyle will be attending Ball State in the fall and Jenna and Maddux are both students at CPCS. We are a sports oriented family, playing soccer, volleyball and softball in our spare time. We also have a wonderful church family at First Highland Church of the Nazarene.

I really feel that my move to CPCS is God's will and I look forward to embracing my faith and love of teaching.

Hello, my name is Patty Sparks.  I have the pleasure to return to CPCS for a third year.  This year, I will continue to teach Language Arts to seventh and eighth grade students.  I am excited for another adventure with our middle schoolers!

This will be my twelfth year teaching and there is no other career I'd rather have! I love getting to know my students personally and academically.  I love teaching at Crown Point Christian School; it is a place where Jesus is number one and I love sharing that openly.

I live with my family in St. John, Indiana. I have been married to my husband Scott for twenty-one years and we enjoy staying active and playing sports together.

My favorite Bible verse is 1 John 4:4 - “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” I am always reminded with this verse that no matter what I may be going through, God can overcome it.

Hello, my name is Jeff Stallinga and I grew up in South Holland, Illinois, and attended Calvin Christian School, Illiana Christian High School and Trinity Christian College. My first teaching position was at Highland Christian School, where I taught fourth grade as well as a few years of junior high Bible. During my time at Highland, I also earned my Master's Degree in Education from Purdue University.

After 11 years at Highland, I took a break from teaching and spent two years doing full time youth ministry at a church in South Holland. But I soon felt the Lord was calling me back into the classroom, and I accepted a sixth grade position at Lansing Christian School, where I taught for another 11 years.

I then felt the Lord was calling me to teach at Crown Point Christian School, and now after I have completed my seventh year here at this wonderful school, I have no doubts that this is where I am supposed to be and where I can fulfill God's calling to the fullest. I truly believe that teaching is not just a job, but my ministry and God's calling on my life. I am grateful for how he has used me over the years to not only teach about God's world, but to lead children to a stronger relationship with their Lord and Savior.

When I'm not grading papers, I enjoy coaching basketball, watching sports - especially the Bears and Blackhawks, and I love to bike and grill out during the summer. My favorite verse is found in 1st Corinthians 10:31, "Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

I have been a music teacher for 38 year.  I have taught in Minnesota, Illinois, Colorado, and Indiana.  I received my undergraduate degree at Bemidji State University in Minnesota, and did graduate work in String Development at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Although I have taught every facet of music education, my specialty has always been orchestra.  I play twelve different musical instruments, and enjoy classical, jazz, folk music from around the world, classic rock, and Irish fiddle music.  I have been involved in church music for nearly 40 years.

I am currently involved in teaching Bible to both children and adults.  I also enjoy teaching astronomy, and often host backyard get-togethers in my observatory.

I live in St. John with my wife, Linda, and daughter, Amelia, who attends Crown Point Christian School.

My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 55:9, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Hi my name is Jaclene Bonnema, and I am a so excited to be returning to teach this year at Crown Point Christian School. I graduated from Huntington University with a degree in Exercise and Movement Science, and received my transition to teaching degree from Taylor University in P-12 Physical Education. I also work part-time at the Crown Point YMCA as a personal trainer, stretch therapist, and wellness/lifestyle coach.

I had the privilege of attending Christian schools growing up, including Crown Point Christian School. I am looking forward to being on the teaching side of Christian education, and walk with the students spiritually and academically the same way my teachers did for me.

In my free time, I enjoy anything sports-related, hiking, kayaking, puzzles, hanging out with my dog, and spending time with family and friends, especially my nephews. My favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

My name is Vickie Craig. I am originally from Illinois, but have had the privilege of also living in Colorado, California and Ohio.

I graduated from Moody Bible Institute and Wheaton College. My career has mostly involved training children. I have had a daycare in my home, taught first and sixth grades, and most recently taught English as a second language to a special bunch of Ohio elementary students.

My family, husband Dan, daughters Erin and Leah, and son-in-law Philip, are an enormous source of joy to me. We also have a furry "child" named Teddy.

My favorite verse is Psalm 91:1, "He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the almighty."

My name is Shannon DeYoung and I will be a part-time librarian this year at CPCS.  I had the opportunity to help out as a part-time teacher in the EXCEL classroom last school year and it was so much fun and a wonderful learning experience!  I love children and believe they are all a gift from God.  Teaching in a Christian school is such a blessing and I am so thankful God has led me to this position at Crown Point Christian School.
I grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and attended North Christian School, East Christian School, and Kalamazoo Christian High School.  I graduated from Trinity Christian College with my BA in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology.  It was at Trinity that I met my husband, Len.  I worked several jobs until starting a family.  Our two wonderful boys, Hayden (9th) and Hunter (7th), are students at Illiana Christian High School CPCS.
My family is involved at Bethel Church in Crown Point.  As a family, we love watching the Chicago Blackhawks, traveling to Michigan to see family and to enjoy the family cottage, and playing volleyball and tennis together.  I also love summer, yoga, running, reading, and the beach!
One of my favorite verses is Psalm 46:10a "Be still and know that I am God."  How many times, if you just "stop", can you truly enjoy the glory of God all around you?  It is all about Him!

My name is Brittany Eenigenburg and I have been a part of the Crown Point Christian School staff since 2014.  This school year I will be the Computer Lab Advisor and the CAMP Director at Crown Point Christian School.  I am blessed to have this opportunity and excited to see what God has in store for me this school year.

I married my amazing husband, Seth, in November of 2013.  We enjoy volunteering our time within the community and at church.  We also love to spend time with friends and family, going boating and camping.  Seth and I live in Crown Point, Indiana and spend a lot of our time at home doing projects and landscaping.  I enjoy baking, sewing, and trying out new recipes.  My favorite sports teams are the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks.  One of my favorite Bible verses comes from II Timothy 3: 16-17, which tells us, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

This will be my fifth year teaching music at Crown Point Christian School.  This year will be a change for me as I am going from teaching two days a week to four at CPCS.  I have been a music teacher since the early 1990’s, and I can honestly say I love my work.  In addition to teaching at CPCS, I also have a piano studio in the Homewood/Flossmoor area where I live.  I also accompany a couple of different choirs, and had a great time getting a chance to direct the 8th grade choir here from January through June.

I have a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance from California State University, Long Beach.  (Yes, I still miss the weather!)  While I was out there I met my husband, Dave, who is a pastor at Living Springs Community Church in Glenwood.  We have three children - two boys and a girl, ages 21, 20, and 11.  Keeping up with all the facets of my life often feels overwhelming.  When I am tempted to feel like I’m not doing as well as I could be, I remember Romans 8:1-2: “Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

My name is Myrna Jorna and I am so thrilled to be a part of a Christian school community. Growing up as an only child of a widowed mother, we could never afford Christian School tuition. I received my Bachelor of Education degree from Northern Illinois University. I taught fourth grade for several years in District 150 in South Holland, Illinois. As my three daughters were born, I became a stay-at-home mom, but eventually began subbing in area schools. I subbed for over ten years, and when my youngest daughter left for college, I began teaching full-time in Sauk Village, Illinois, Dist.168, teaching both first and second grade throughout the years. Christian teachers are desperately needed in the public school, and it has been my privilege to try to be a light in the darkness that surrounds many of these precious children. In June of 2012, I retired from full-time teaching with 28 years of service credited.

After being married just short of 40 years, Kent, my husband, went home to be with the Lord. I am the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy reading and dabbling in oil painting.

I have learned to rely heavily on the verses from Philippians 4:6 & 7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

I began teaching at CPCS in 2009. I hold a BA from Trinity Christian College in History and PE and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Covenant College. I had the privilege of teaching at Illiana Christian from 1991-2000 and coached a variety of sports as well as served as Athletic Director. God called me and my family to Tennessee to become High School Principal at Chattanooga Christian. Following four great learning years in Tennessee, I then served as High School Principal at Kalamazoo Christian High School.

I took two years off from teaching and worked in the business world with an online learning company gaining valuable insights in eLearning. I am happily married to Lori who is an amazing NICU nurse (as well as great wife and mom) and we have three sons Kylen, Ethan, and Brenden.  Kylen is happily married to Skye in Fall 2018.  Ethan is a full-time plumbing journeyman with Action Plumbing and is engage to be married to Hanna Vander Woude (October 2019).  Brenden is a Junior at Illiana Christian High School playing golf and looking forward to graduation.

I am thoroughly enjoying classroom teaching and administrating athletics. One of the biggest reasons I am in education is because of the influence and great instruction I received from coaches and teachers. My hope and prayer is that I can be an instrument of God to bring more kids into a lifelong love relationship with Christ. One of my favorite Bible verses is I Timothy 4:8, "For physical training is of some value, but Godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

My hobbies include refereeing basketball and soccer as well as playing golf. My passion is serving God through sports in any way that I can get involved. I love coaching and teaching kids in any area that involves being active!

I am so excited to be part of Crown Point Christian School.  I have lived in South Holland, Illinois, for most of my life.  I attended Calvin Christian School and Illiana Christian High School.  I graduated from Calvin College.  I received a BA in Education with a major in Art.  Twenty years later I returned to school to get my Masters of Art from Governors State University.  I graduated in 2004 with my M.A.  I am currently teaching art part-time at Calvary Academy in South Holland where I have been for twenty-three years.  I dreamed of teaching art to students since I was little.  Before teaching art, I taught in Riverdale, Illinois, teaching junior high English, history, and reading.  I am excited to share God's creativity with your children.

I have one son, Bryan, who lives in Denver, Colorado.  I am also waiting to be a mother-in-law and a grandmother.  I will have to wait for that but I have a marvelous opportunity to teach your children.

My hobbies are working with pottery, painting, and pastels and teaching painting parties.  I also love being involved with the prayer ministry at my church.

I have many verses in the Bible which are important to me so to pick one is hard.  Jeremiah 29:11-14, has been my favorite for many years.  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you," declares the Lord, "and will bring you back from captivity.  I will gather you for all nations and places where I have banished you," declares the Lord, and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

Hello, my name is AmberLyn Macchia and this is my third year as the music teacher at Crown Point Christian School. I teach general music to all the 3rd-8th graders, as well as I am the Choral Director for grades 5-8th.  Music has been a part of my life since a very early age. I have been involved in singing in the worship team at church, singing in choirs through my school career, directing a singing competition in college and playing the saxophone and piano.

I live in Crown Point with my husband, Brian. We have been married for four years. We enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to car shows, boating, working on projects and enjoying music.

My grandmother has a tradition of giving a specific Bible verse to each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the day they were born.  After much praying, she gave me Proverbs 4:26 “Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.” This verse has taught me through my life to always inquire God when I need direction and see which path He wants me to take. He has been with me throughout all of my previous journeys and paths and years teaching. I cannot wait to see what blessings will continue to come my way here at CPCS this next year.

I was born and raised in Highland, Indiana, but I have been a resident of Saint John for the past 11 years.  I live with my husband, Craig, and two dogs.  I have three adult children -- two sons who are both living in New York and a daughter.  My daughter and son-in-law live in Lowell.  I have three wonderful grandchildren, one who attends Crown Point Christian School.  My husband and I are members of New Life CRC in Highland.

I received my degree in Music Education from Calvin College and my Masters in Music Education from Vander Cook College in Chicago.  I have been a music educator for 37 years; teaching general music and directing choirs and bands at Highland Junior High, Lansing Christian, and Highland Christian.  For the last 15 years I have been directing all bands at Illiana Christian High School.  I will continue directing bands at Illiana but am excited to be working with the bands at Crown Point Christian School.

I have many favorite Bible verses but Romans 8:38 is the first one that comes to mind:  "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Hello!  My name is Alissa Scott, and it is a blessing to be back at CPCS teaching Spanish.  I went to Calvin College where I majored in Spanish and elementary education.  While at Calvin I spent a semester in Spain and an interim in Mexico.  God has given me a heart for teaching the gift of language.  I have taught in a variety of schools in the area including: Illiana Christian, Trinity Christian College, Highland Christian, Lansing Christian and here at CPCS.

My husband, Steve, and I live in Dyer with our three children.  Natalie is a sophomore at Illiana Christian High School,  Jake is in seventh grade and Charlie is in Kindergarten Spanish Immersion at CPCS.  We spend most of our time going to softball, baseball, basketball and soccer games to watch Natalie and Jake play.  Also, we are active members of Pathway Church which meets in the gym at CPCS on Sunday mornings.

My favorite verse is Hebrews 12:2, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

My name is Jill Elizabeth Wells. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in Elementary Education with a focus on mathematics. I have been a middle school mathematics teacher and enrichment coach in grades K-8 for over 20 years. For the past three years, I have focused on STEM cross-curricular teaching for students in grades K-8.  

I am honored to be joining Crown Point Christian School as the STEM teacher. I am excited about the opportunity to teach in a Christian environment while sharing my passion for STEM with students. 

I am married to my best friend Mike and have two beautiful daughters in college. Angela is attending Purdue University, West Lafayette and Faith is at Valparaiso University.  In my spare time, I love to travel to the National parks, golf, play tennis and garden. My family and I attend Bethel Church.  

One of my favorite bible verses is Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

I am excited and grateful to be working at Crown Point Christian School. I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  I have been blessed to attend Christian schools my entire life. This culminated in my graduation from Trinity Christian College in 2006 with a double major in Elementary Education and Special Education. I have previously taught students with a wide range of abilities, including self-contained and resource classrooms.

My husband Dan and I were married in 2008 and have been blessed with four amazing children.  Joshua, Noah, Harley and Matilda keep us on our toes and most free time is spent with the family. We enjoy family movie night and taking frequent trips to Michigan to visit with family.  My personal interests include cooking, baking and reading.

A Christian education that includes students with a variety of abilities was established within me at a young age. I have two younger sisters, one of whom has Down syndrome.  We three girls attended the local Christian school together. It never occurred to me as a young child that my sister’s varying abilities could have prevented her from receiving a quality Christian education. It is my passion to see that students of all abilities have that same opportunity. 1 Corinthians 12:27 states: “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

My name is Krystle Eenigenburg and I have been working at CPCS since the 2014-2015 school year.  I love working in Student Services as a full-time aide. I also attended and graduated from CPCS and love to see how God has truly blessed the school!  

I graduated from Illiana Christian High School in 2005.  Before coming to CPCS I worked in childcare for 5 years working with children ages 6 weeks-12 years old.

I love being an auntie to 3 nieces and 1 nephew!  In my free time, I enjoy helping out with functions at our church, shopping, organizing things, and hanging out with my family!

My name is Rachel Evers. I am very  excited to join the CPCS staff this year. For the past 10 years I have been a stay at home mom. Prior to starting a family, I was an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. I attended Purdue University where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Intervention with a Kindergarten Endorsement. I have recently become the Nursery Director in our church where I have been serving in the children’s ministry for several years.
My husband, Matt, and I have been married since 2004. We have been blessed with three boys who all attend CPCS. Caden is in fifth grade, Lucas is in fourth grade, and Cody is in first. We love to spend our spare time exploring the outdoors!

My name is Faith Goldsberry and I am very excited to be part of Crown Point Christian School.  I grew up in Dyer and went through the Lake Central School Corporation.  I graduated from Lake Central High School in 2008.  I was blessed to be able to do my student teaching at Crown Point Christian School last fall.  I graduated in December of 2013 from Purdue University Calumet with degrees in both Elementary and Special Education.

From the time I was young, I knew God had an amazing plan for my life.  He has instilled in me a deep, compassionate love for people.  With every mission trip I was a part of, I began to realize that I was being called to teach.  Over the last ten years, God has truly blessed me with some incredible serving opportunities.  I have taught English in the Dominican Republic, served twice in an orphanage in Mexico, cleaned up New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, served on a Word of Life Campus in the Philippines, and just recently returned from Uganda, Africa where I was a Mission Intern with Joni & Friends.

In May of 2016, I married my best friend, Tyler. We just purchased our first home in Crown Point, and can't wait to move in. We are excited to start this new chapter in our lives. We live with our two cats who we love dearly. We love to spend our time doing outdoor activities such as bike riding, hiking, and camping.

One of my life's verses is Joshua 1:9:  "Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

My name is Gail Goldsberry and this will be my fourth year teaching at Crown Point Christian School.  I am excited to see what God has in store for us this school year.

Before coming to Crown Point Christian School, I retired from a local special education cooperative where I spent the past 23 years teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities.  I spent three years as part of the diagnostic team testing and placing eligible students in special education services.

I have been married to my husband, Jack, for 37 years.  We have been blessed with three fantastic children, Melissa and Jack Cameron who are twins, and Tyler.  The twins are both pharmacists, Melissa at a local hospital and Jack Cameron at the Denver VA.  Our youngest son, Tyler, is married to Faith Patena Goldsberry a teacher in Student Services at Crown Point Christian School.

In my free time I enjoy book club, bunco, traveling, spending time with family, and following sports at Purdue University.  My entire family, including my parents, are Boilermakers!  We attend Suncrest Christian Church in St. John.

I love teaching at Crown Point Christian School where sharing my love for Christ is embraced.  My favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 22:6, "Start children off on the way they should go, and when they are old they will not turn from it," and Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength."

My name is Lisa Kampenga and I am overjoyed to be teaching my 3rd year at Crown Point Christian School as the sixth grade Literature Teacher and Middle School Student Services Teacher. I grew up in Northwest Indiana and graduated from Lansing Christian School and Illiana Christian High School. Then, God led me on an adventure to pursue my degree in Special Education and Elementary Education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Throughout my time in Arizona I was involved in multiple outreach opportunities serving those in the community and teaching them about God’s love. I spent much of my summers working with SpringHill Camps and the last couple summers with Joni and Friends Family Retreats. 

I am overjoyed to be marrying my best friend, Kevin, this fall. We enjoy being adventurous, hiking, baking, reading, spending time in the Word, and laughing together. We are huge Cubs fans so we spend a lot of time watching games, as well as enjoying the company of family and friends. 

I am thrilled to continue God’s work with the passion He has instilled in me to teach and proclaim His Word and the love of Jesus Christ to children and everyone God places in my path. Lately, God has been uplifting me with Philippians 4:4-7 - "Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

My name is Cherilyn Klomp, and I love being part of the CPCS family!  I grew up in Lansing, Illinois attending both Lansing Christian and Illiana Christian schools.  I graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  I taught fourth grade previously at a Christian school in Illinois.  Here at Crown Point Christian School, I've worn many different hats as far as teaching is concerned.  I've loved them all!  This year, I am very excited about joining the Spanish Immersion Student Services team.

I'm married to Kevin and we have two amazing children that attend Crown Point Christian School.  My husband owns his own business, and we are both very involved in the life of our church (Faith Church).

I am thankful that God brought me to Crown Point Christian School.  I grew up in the area and  attended Illiana Christian High School.  After high school I attended Dordt College and graduated with a B.A. in elementary education and a minor in special education.  After graduation I taught 5th and 6th graders in Nebraska for 2 years.  I then moved back to the area and got a job teaching in the Discovery Center at Highland Christian School.  I taught there for 4 years.  During that time I married my husband Chris.  We started a family and I stayed home with our kids.  My passion for teaching, though, kept me busy as I was active in the Children's Ministries and our church.  I also did some subbing and I worked part time at Gymboree Play and Music teaching pre-school age children.  When my youngest was in Kindergarten I returned to the school setting where I worked at Elim Christian School.  I recently moved from Illinois to Indiana which brought me to Crown Point Christian School.  I am so happy to be a part of this school and am so thankful for Christian education.

I have been blessed with three wonderful children.  Jon attends Illiana Christian High School and Alyssa and Sara attend Crown Point Christian School. We live in Dyer and attend Faith Church in Dyer.  My favorite verse is Prov. 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."

Hi, my name is Christi Phillips and I’m delighted to be returning to Crown Point Christian School. I was so blessed when God opened the opportunity for me to teach part time after retiring last June.  I have loved every moment and can’t wait to start again in the fall. This will be my 39th year teaching.   I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from a Baptist University, Stetson, in DeLand, Florida, where I taught special education as well as second and third grade. I received my certification to teach gifted students in 2003 and have taught gifted children ever since. I have a genuine passion for teaching children how to think critically, creatively and how to be strong communicators. My prayer is to motivate each student to see God’s plan for their life and to guide them in pursuing anything they can dream.

I live in Valpo with my husband, Dan, and our dog, Zaira - a Bernese Mountain dog. We are working with her to become a therapy dog one day as my family has trained many dogs for service. We have two adult children, Daniel, who lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and Mary who lives in Jupiter, Florida. I enjoy the outdoors and love to garden and have embraced my new hobby, shoveling snow. 

Proverbs 3:6 says, “Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Hello!  My name is Stanton Rayson, and I'm excited for another year with the students and staff at Crown Point Christian School.  I earned a Bachelors Degree from Governors State University in Speech Language Pathology, and a Masters from Purdue Calumet in Special Education.  My wonderful wife, Jessie Ackerson, teaches Spanish Immersion here at Crown Point Christian School.  Together we're raising our son, Lincoln, to speak both languages, share his toys, talk to God, and tease his grandparents.

Prior to teaching at Crown Point Christian School, I taught special education at Calumet New Tech High School in Gary, Indiana.  I've also worked as a paraprofessional for a transition to adulthood program, and as an assistant and program coordinator for the youth services department of a public library.  I love working with children, teaching them and learning from them as well.

I have a passion for music, and I enjoy playing many instruments, including lately the Irish whistle and the Appalachian or mountain dulcimer.  I also dabble in making and modifying musical instruments.  I've performed with a couple of church praise bands, playing keyboard, guitar, bass, and low whistle.  I particularly enjoy Irish and American traditional music, classic and progressive rock, Gungor, and Chris Rice Singing hymns.

A favorite verse of mine is from Genesis 1:  "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."

My name is Ashley Zandstra, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be Crown Point Christian School's speech-language pathologist (SLP).

I grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois and attended Timothy Christian School.  From there, I attended Calvin College where I majored in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.  I received my Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Saint Xavier University in 2011, and before coming to Crown Point Christian School, worked at Elim Christian School for 4+ years.

I met my husband, Joel, during my senior year at Calvin.  Together we have three children -- Owen, Jack, and Penelope.  We love spending time outdoors in God's creation, eating good food, and hanging out with our little ones.

One of my favorite Bible verses at the moment is from 1 Corinthians 13 (MSG):  "Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly.  And the best of the three is love."
