Mrs. Detmar~Differentiated Learning Instructor
Hi! I am thrilled to be one of the teachers at Crown Point Christian School. I have been teaching for over twenty years in various grade levels and at various schools in Indiana and Illinois. I am excited to use my experience to benefit teachers and students with differentiation and enrichment.
I graduated from Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at Valparaiso University and received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University, Evanston, Illinois. Currently, I am pursuing a license from the Gifted Education Research Institute at Purdue University.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have a career that I am so passionate about. How blessed I am to spend my days doing something I love! I have always had a heart for education, and love working with children of all ages. I am touched so often by a child's honesty, creativity, and tenderness. I'm grateful that God led me to a position at Crown Point Christian School.
My number one hobby is my family. I believe in a balanced life, taking time out for my church and my family. I have 3 wonderful children. Brett is a Sophmore at Illiana Christian , Erik is in Junior High, and Karlie is in 3rd grade at Crown Point Christian. As a family, we love playing outside, enjoying water sports, reading, and cheering on the White Sox, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks! I also enjoy exercising, traveling, shopping, and going on weekend getaways with friends.
My favorite Bible verse is from Paul's letter to the Philippians, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
