Mrs. Detmar~Kindergarten Teacher
Hi! Welcome to kindergarten! I am thrilled to be one of the kindergarten
teachers at Crown Point Christian School. I teach the 3-day full
day program. I have been teaching for seventeen years in various
grade levels and at various schools in Indiana and Illinois.
I graduated from Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Science at Valparaiso University
in 1990 and received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction
from National Louis University, Evanston, IL in 1995.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have a career that I am so
passionate about. Kindergarten is a welcome challenge and a joy to teach
kids at this level. How blessed I am to spend my days doing something
I love! I have always had a heart for education, and love working with
children of all ages. I am touched so often by a child’s honesty,
creativity, and tenderness. I’m grateful that God led me to a position
at Crown Point Christian.
My number one hobby is my family. Although many kindergartners may
think that I live at school, I believe in a balanced life, taking
time out for my church and my family. I am married to Ron and we
have 3 wonderful children. Brett is in 7th grade, Erik is in 4th
grade, and Karly is in Kindergarten. As a family, we love playing outside,
enjoying water sports, reading, and cheering on our favorite sports’
teams. I also enjoy walking, traveling, shopping, and going on weekend
getaways.
My favorite Bible verse is from Paul’s letter to the Philippians, “Rejoice
in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness
be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present
your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:4-7
