Mrs. Houtsma~Second Grade Teacher
I love teaching at Crown Point Christian. In about fourth grade I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up to which I replied that I wanted to be a teacher, and here I am pursuing that calling. I started teaching here in 2007 after graduating from Dordt College where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education as well as minors in Special Education and Reading. I am so thankful God has called me to be a member of Crown Point Christian’s staff, and I love the daily opportunities I have to bring my love for children and the Lord into all aspects of who I am and what I do. My favorite part about teaching is that no two days are ever the same. No matter what I thought I was going to teach my students, they always teach me something along the way! My heart is in what I do, and I cherish being a part of a community committed to Christ-centered education.
I have an older sister and a younger brother and sister. I got married in August 2008. In my free time I love to play and coach volleyball, hang out with friends, shop, and use my creativity. I also love to go camping and kayaking with my husband.
My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 89:1 which says, “I will sing of the LORD’S great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.”
