Tom & Mike

Praise God! Surgeries for Mike Bultema (CPCS parent) and Tom Kamp (CPCS parent and teacher) were successful. We are thankful to the Lord and grateful for our brothers and sisters in Christ who continue to lift these gentlemen, their families, and their hospital staff up in prayer. To God be the glory!

Here is an update:

Mike continues to improve and his kidney function numbers are at a normal level which he hasn’t seen in about 15 years! Mike is not experiencing much pain and he seems to be getting sleep. On Sunday night he was allowed to eat regular food and was able to sit in a chair for about an hour — those two things were a big deal. Mike will start doing some physical therapy on Monday to regain some strength. We ask for prayers for Mike and Tom as they continue to improve and heal. We are truly thankful for all the support and prayers we have received. We are truly blessed! ¬†–Caroline Bultema (Mike’s wife)

Things are progressing well. Tom is able to walk with a pretty nice stride. In fact, Sunday night he made it walking all the way to Mike’s room which is down two floors and down a long hall. No more wheelchair needed to get around! Pain has been pretty well managed by a PCA pump and some oral medications. On Monday, Tom’s surgeon is waiting to hear that bodily functions are up and running. Tom has been so humbled and blessed by the outpouring love and well wishes. He was so thankful to hear on Friday, after surgery, that his kidney started working soon after the transplant and continues to do well. Healing and recovery are underway and we feel the prayers. It truly is a blessing to be a part of this community of believers. –Lori Kamp (Tom’s wife)
