Using iPads as Assistive Technology in Education by Faith Patena, Discovery Center Teacher

ipad phonicsIf you have walked into the Discovery Center recently, you would have noticed our students working with some new technology…iPads.  Thanks to a generous donation, the Discovery Center has acquired three brand new iPads.

ipad phonics2One of our fourth grade students has struggled over the past few years in school due to her dyslexia.  However, with the use of an iPad, and an application called Co:Writer, a word prediction software, she can eliminate and overcome past barriers.

Seeing how the use of an iPad was such a huge asset to their child’s education, the family of the fourth grade student graciously donated additional iPads for use within our Discovery Center giving many other students the same opportunity to succeed in academics.
